Ricky Burns undercard

Post by WayoftheCass »

Appleby getting hammered. Big surprise. I presume Alex Arthur won as he's sitting ringside with a few marks on his right cheek.
Does anyone know that result?

Cheers.

Appleby landed some decent body shots, but himself is eating the jab and is cut.

Interesting fight.

After 5 it'd 4-1 Laryea. He has dominated with a long rangy jab from the off and can't miss with it. Appleby cut over the left eye. Not very bad but a major concern. At times it's a bit of a shoot out with the Ghana fight looking the better of the two.

He won on points

I've got Appleby 4-2 up after 6

Quiet 6th round. Neither did much. Laryea still looks the much fresher but appeared to take his foot off the gas. Outside of rocking the African with a left hook to the body in the second the Scot has not been at the races. Looks out of sorts. Almost like he expected it to be walkover and can't believe he's in a fight.

Cheers for the result. Arthur defo on the slide. Fair does on your viewing of the Apleby fight but as far as I can see he's getting beat down. 5-2 Laryea after 7.

At this rate I wouldn't be that surprised to see him pulled out in a couple of rounds.

Been on the back foot all night which is not wise against such a tall and rangy guy. Doesn't seem to hit as hard as he did down at feather.

I agree. I can't see him going the distance. Maybe it would be better if they pull him out and he goes home and reassesses. Very poor display.

Appleby better in the 8th. Needs to get inside, getting outclassed on the outside. Laryea doesn't look that good either, just Appleby has looked very bad.

More positive 8th. Laryea stalked but landed little. Appleby seemed fired up at the end of the round and punched the air. I'll be nice and give him it. Maybe his championship experience will see him through.......maybe! :box:

I've got it 4-4 after 9. Laryea is actually not very busy.

Even 9th. No doubt the home fighter will get it. Probably Appleby's best round since the second. Appleby dancing around on the outside. He only causes the African trouble when he steps forward with body punches and backs Laryea up. Yet he continues to try and dance. Clash of heads. Appleby has another bad cut.

Appleby has to win these 2 rounds big to stand a chance thats of course presuming O'Connor lets it go on. Bad cut.

Still losing clearly for me.....depends if the 'hometown' factor comes into play

Appleby rocked in the last round and doing little. Think Laryea wins this on points unless there is a piss poor home town decision.

Laryea wins final round big. I have it 7-5 to Laryea BUT I did give one sympathy round to Paul so probably should have been 8-4. Appleby looked awful there. Too small.

If Laryea doesn't get this it would be a crime.....and I'm an Appleby fan.
