CANADIAN SENIOR NATIONALS

:bag: CANADIAN BOXERS ready to compete in Quebec City By brian zelley
:box: On December 4th the Canadian senior open boxers will once again fight for the
right to be called the Elite Canadian Boxing Champion.

A quick review of the potential boxers, including those that competed in the
2010 Commonwealth Games, indicated one of the interesting divisions will be
the LIGHTWEIGHT division with Alberta's ALEX RYNN being the front runner,
but there are some potential road blocks that he must face with some excellent
competitors such as fellow Albertans CAM O'CONNELL & ERICK TAYLOR and BC boxer
JAG SEEHRA from Prince George. But, there are other potential
surprises such as MITCH CORMIER of New Brunswick.

LIGHT-WELTERWEIGHT
After his efforts in Delhi, will YVES ULYSSE be the top choice fighting in his home
province or will the likes of DYLAN BISHOP from British Columbia be like the fly in the ointment and upset Ulysse's expectation of ring glory and gold.

There are many other potential champions for this tournament, two of interest include
KENNY LALLY of Prince George, BC and Nova Scotia's own champion
JOEY LAVIOLETTE. This year, the two former opponents from the previous
tournament are expected to compete in different weight division.
A potential solid fighter to face Lally would be Quebec boxer FRANCOIS PRATTE.

Some other names with high profiles would include Didier Bence, Steve Rolls, and
then there are the two from Alberta named DARREN & DWAYNE ORUBAR

Some breaking news is at least four boxers listed by BOXING CANADA as registered competitors are not expected to make the trip for a variety of reasons,
However, the disclosure of the names and the reasons for the sudden change of plans
should and could be looked at after the tournament as the reasons for the departure
will provide some input into future decision making by the elite officials of
BOXING CANADA and the PROVINCIAL organizations. After, the 2008 selection of only
one Canadian boxer for the Olympic Games, the image of BOXING CANADA has taken
a pounding - but it must be remembered, all the presidents of the various organizations
are part of the decision making group. some of the presidents may not have the
experience required to speak for the greater boxing communities.

One of the unproven claims, is the lack of actual boxing experience by some of these
leaders/decision makers. :shame: It is likely that all of them should get a pass until
2012, if things go badly for a potential 2012 Canadian Olympic Boxing Team, then
it will be time for house cleaning and for heads to roll.
