just what ive read in Otto Von Porats biography.

Von Porat thought Christner could have been a champion if he picked up boxing a bit earlier. He was what 31? when he laced them up for the first time?

31 was he that that old? also back in the 1930's most fighters were finished by 30, so that is like a fighter now takeing up boxing at 40 and becomeing at top ranked contender

i remember reading that he boxed micky walker and he tuck a dive

Heres a translation of what Von Porat said of Christner:

''I met my opponent in the dressing room, He was a quiet and humble man completely different from what i had expectet from such a knockout phenomenon.
My boxing is a game of hazzard he said. A good technician can outmaneuver me in a matter of minutes. I was nearly 35 when i started boxing and at that age one doesent learn as well as you young fellas. I got the poorest punch repertoir on the cauliflower market today .

Indeed he was right ,he only knew a few punches but those he knew,he knew well'' .

And a subtext under photos of Christner and Stribling:

''two of my hardest opponents, inn the top photo Young Stribling who would have gone on to big things if his carreer wasent so suddenly abrupted.
Bottom: Knock-out Christner who could maybe have been champion if he hadent started boxing way to late. He was almost 35 the first time he had gloves on his hands.''
