Khan was a few years ahead of Gavin in the Ams ability wise..i think that was shown when he beat Kindalan,i think the week before Gavin lost to the cuban..That fight came a couple of years to early for Funtime, but obvisly great experience for him&he went on to be the worlds top lightweight..yiddo14 wrote:Khan has the ability to be one of the very best in the world, p4p.
Gavin has not shown he can reach such a level as of yet. His style is suited more to the ams. Incidently, wasn't Khan ranked higher than him in the ams when both were amateur?
140 class ... Frankie Gavin can dominate.

I thought I could remember that Amir lost to Kindelan at the Olympics, then Kindelan won v Gavin and then Amir beat Kindelan.
Re: 140 class ... Frankie Gavin can dominate.
I found it 'strange' how everything Kindelan was good at, got neglected and thrown out the window in the Khan rematch.

I too felt that it was strange; also that Kindelan had a sister living in the West Midlands who helped 'facilitate' the visit.

I thought it was well-known that Kindelan was paid off for Khan's last fight.G0mez wrote:I found it 'strange' how everything Kindelan was good at, got neglected and thrown out the window in the Khan rematch.

yeah he got a pair of reebok classic's & a 3 quarter length leather jacket.
gavin's people promised him a beef patty to go easy.

was one of the dodgiest fights I'd seen, Khan fought exactly the same as he did in the olympics, Kindelan just didn't look bothered at all.

Doesn't necessarly mean that will happen with Frankie Gavin

No, because he has stopped 7 of his first 8 already.terminator wrote: Doesn't necessarly mean that will happen with Frankie Gavin

True, but I think Frankie has gears he's not used yet. He seems quite hardy.terminator wrote:G0mez wrote: but it could easily go the other way as he steps up in class.

Not been massivesly impressed as of yet.

I have, to be honest. I thought he'd be doing a lot more 'running' but he seems very comfortable either just out of, and then, in range. He looks to the body and has very good punch selection. I'm not sure that he'll be knocking people out cold but he is getting his weight into the shots and with good timing he should hurt and drop some class men. (If he were an arm puncher he would've been found out; journeymen professionals and class amateurs are generally pretty sturdy and game; there's none of em looking for a way to the floor).
