JMM is strong, but not sure I would have up there in the top 3/4 strongest chins P4P. He's been hit and hurt and floored a few times.

Yeah I know what you're saying. Is having a granite chin the same as having amazing recouperative powers? IMO they're two different things. Holmes's chin was good, but not great imo, but his powers of recouperation were amazing. I put Marquez in that category. Whereas Mcall just has a concrete chin. If he got knocked down maybe he'd stay down and not be able to shake it off. we'll probably never know on that one!

Oscar really was a tough S.O.B, even horrifically weight drained and past his prime, Pacman never came close to flooring him. Oscar said that Manny never really hurt him, but he just had nothing left to fight back. That's truly staggering, when you see what Mannys punches do to healthy fighters in their prime.

Oscar does have a head like a block of granite, it's fekking masive in relation to his body.

Shouldn't that read 'had' based on the Bute rematch?
It depends if his chin is in his stomach. :??

Arthur Abraham deserves an honourable mention as well as Edison Miranda brok his it saw Abraham lose over a pint of blood but still won and needed titanium screws put in if my memory serves me correctly. Also what about Miguel Cotto as well?
Forrest did it twice.

MAC = distinctly bloody average. Anyone whose legs go like that vs. Demarcus Corley, Ricardo Torres, Zab Judah & Margarito (three being solid punchers, one a sneaky non-puncher), & who would've been out vs. the ones he came back to beat if he wasn't twice the size of three of them, does not deserve any mention whatsoever in this type of list.
Thanks for clearing up SSM's chin for me, and Cotto I was never quite sure about so I thought I would mention him and see what the response was. I am tempted to mention Arturo Gatti as he could a sickening amount of punishment and still fire back. As for Oscar De La Hoya in his fight v Manny Pacquiao, No matter how drained and shot De La Hoya he was getting dismantled and had he not been pulled out in the 8th round he would have been stopped on his feet as he had nothing to keep the Pacman off him

The finisher was a body shot but he was already in trouble after Bute dropped him clean with a left hook to the chin earlier in the round:

Second only to Hagler, I would have said that when it comes to championship fighters, Larry Holms has to be in with a great shout.

Modern day/current quality beards go to Saiko Bika, Mosely, Karo Murat, Afolabi and Clottey.

The ability to take a pin-point chin checker and just being an all round tough bastard seem to be blurring into one on the this thread.

It would seem the fighters who have both are the truly greats.

Odlanier Solis took a Haye rocket in their amateur fight flush on chin and stayed upright to win. If he has toughness, he could be special at heavy if he stays fit, not fat.

Very good name. He has taken some horrific hits but has stood strong!!! You don't really need to be considered a world beater to be considered for the boxrec.com best chin.

Good shouts...

In recent times you have to point to Hopkins, Mosley, Briggs, Toney, Holyfield, McCullough, Froch, Klit Sr, Margarito, Woods.....some iron jaws.

From times past I think Aaron Pryor gets overlooked - he had a phenomenal chin - Chavez, Nelson, Eubank, Monzon, La Motta etc etc..
