Bit of unfortunate wording from Mr Shinfield though I know what he means. It's not really Booth which is the step back (after all, he's just come off his own world title tilt and he got much closer than Munroe) but the perceived 'level'.
What a great fight this would have been though. Could still happen down the line, I suppose.
Booth v Munroe not happening...
Re: Booth v Munroe not happening...
That would have been a brilliant and close fight - it is a pity it isnt happening.
Re: Booth v Munroe not happening...
Shame if it doesn't happen, dont see how it would put either of them steps back, whatever happened to the best in Britian fighting each other and the best out of those going on to World or International titles? I recall Munroe saying recently in an interview that he's won the English, Commonwealth and European and now what he'd really like to gain is the British. I think this fight makes a lot of sense and would be a big boost for British boxing. There are many roads back for the loser with all these different International titles. Whoever loses would still be No.2 ranked in Britian so there would be other opportunities.

Re: Booth v Munroe not happening...
Well it does state that they are good friends so I would imagine that that is the main reason for it not going ahead.
Real pity that it's not happening but there's plenty of good fights at that weight at the moment and too be honest the loser would likely have to face a really dangerous UK and Ireland opponent like Casey, Frampton or Quigg and none of them would be a given so I imagine that both of them would prefer to stay on the international scene if they have the options which it appears they probably do.

Re: Booth v Munroe not happening...
I've spoke to both Rendall (last week) and Jason (a couple of months ago) about the fight and the bottom line was that neither wanted it. Both said there was no point to it as they are such good friends. It seems the only person who wanted the fight was Booth's manager Jimmy Gill.

I think it would make for a great night of British boxing however Its clearly two good friends that don't want to fight each other. Completely understand that
