If he were to win that it would be almost impossible for him to be avoided. He must be in the top 10 in Europe now after the Colas win.
Hes not eligible to fight for it!I dont know what Mr Goodwin is going to do with him to be honest,it will cost a lot of money to keep bringing better opponents to The York Hall.Considering the capacity and the number of bouts Goodwin puts on it must be very expensive trying to get El Maachi up there. Also,a points win is not exactly "destroying" your opponent.
I wasnt aware that he was ineligeble for the Euro belt as well i thought it was just the British belt for some reason though it makes sense. Wasnt Colas of Haitian origin though? Well if that is the case it is still really tough to see where he goes from here especially without tv money. Possibly get a Ghanian over fight for a WBO WBA WBC IBF African belt? That could help him get a rating and wouldnt be too expensive in terms of opposition. The problem is Steve Goodwin needs to spend a fair bit to get Yassine even remotely in a position to challenge internationally and he could still fall at each hurdle. If all else fails the next welter/light middle prizefighter could be a good option

No, your comments are merely exposing your own lack of credibility and if anything you've only managed to divert attention away from a career-best win by El Maachi. Well done you

At the end of the day i know El Maachi deserves a shot at beating the 'big guns' they come out and say he is a nothing fighter why don't they prove it?

Because they've got bigger fish to fry...

Showing such disrespect to one of Britain's best boxers, Ryan Rhodes, who is coming off a string of fine wins over strong opposition - notably Moore and Vuma - shows a lack of class.

Great win by El Maachi, if he keeps knocking on the door he will get the shot he deserves.

Impeccable logic my friend. So every 'big gun' should fight a 'nothing fighter' just to prove they're nothing? :o ...
I can picture the scene in the Klitschho household now... sorry David, we'd love to make the fight, but there's this fella called Audley Harrison who you may know, and he's been calling us out so he's got to come first.... :shame:
I also can't recall Rhodes ever calling El Maachi a "nothing fighter"?

Ryan Rhodes has mixed it with some of the best yes but his last fight was against somebody ranked 143rd in the world. My connection with El Maachi is simply I am a big fan of his work.

Yass is now ranked 39 out of 1200 i disagree with this ranking and by the end of 2011 he will be up there with the best!

And believe it or not, most of us would like to see that as he and his promoter clearly haven't had an easy ride. But the way to get there is not by putting down others who've already accomplished more :TU:

Well done to El Maachi, he is getting to the front of the 'who needs him' club.
If he can get the citizen stuff sorted , then he can force a fight with others for the domestic crown.
The International title or Inter continental may be a good gateway for him as well.

mbudgen, surely it is a bit too soon to be calling Ryan Rhodes for not coming out and fighting someone who only has 2 decent wins on his record so far.

I was one who underestimated Yassin, but credit to him he produced the goods and beat a european ranked fighter.

He still has things to prove before fighting Rhodes who will gain nothing for dropping down many levels for the fight, remember he is on the verge of a world title shot.

I will be looking out for Yassin a lot more now, but be a bit realistic he still has an awful lot to prove.

:OhYes: hahaha I wish, I understand what people are saying about Rhodes but my point is he will drop down many many levels to fight rocky junior, thats dropping down way further than El Maachi's level isn't it?

All the best to Rhodes I hope he goes on to big things just don't agree with his last match up when he could of fought someone like Yassine who would of given him a decent test at least!

(if guided right using caution and intelligence)
Oh I see, yes totally agree Yassine El Maachi could be at the top of the world rankings given a year and a chance by a boxer with some real steel and bottle.

I hope Yassin does well, as he has had it harder than most. What is stopping him gaining citizenship? I ask as it seems easy enough for the other few million Africans in the UK.

Didn't know much about El Maachi before this York Hall bout, but he put on a brilliant show, and is a joy to watch. He's been on the wrong end of a couple of dubious ref decisions, so his record looks deceiving.

He definitely deserves to be on telly - highly exciting fighter.

Rhodes earned a decent ranking only to watch boxing politics get in the way of what he earned. Let him have another crack at a world title, unless the International Masters Belt has suddenly grown in stature overnight... Same with El Maachi, he has earned a fight of a higher stature, but not quite at that level yet IMO. The passport thing is a shame, as it limits him from prestige that comes with British/C'Wealth or Euro titles.

I think he should look at fighting someone like Pawel Wolak or Cory Spinks out in the States - I realise that is a very hard fight to get made but both men need good wins right now so maybe something could be made, and a win over either - especially Spinks - would look good internationally.

Good effort but your way off the mark son, believe it or not there are a lot of El Maachi fans because he is an entertaining boxer.
