Mundine/Wood
Re: Mundine/Wood
Is there any way Wood actually wins this fight? His resume is pathetic. Mundine's never come close to losing to someone of this caliber. I dont get why the betting line is only -1000. Wood's last win was over a guy who was 13-9.
Re: Mundine/Wood
I think Wood has a small chance of winning by KO. He only really knows how to fight one way, that is get in close and swarm all over his man, he did land some pretty big punches on Oganov and Kariuki in the Contender series, so there is a chance (all be it small) that he lands with such a blow on Mundine and Mundine cant recover.
Wood has a habit of holding his opponent with his left arm and hitting with his right at the same time, he got away with this in the Contender series on a number of occasions. I imagine the Mundine camp have spoken to the referee tonight and suggested he be strict with Wood on such incidents.

haha so true. I dont believe people actually pay for this.buster007 wrote:$50 for mundine circus event.
$40 for katsidis vs living legend marquez for 2 proper world titles.
the mundine circus isn't even worth 26 cents in comparison.
Re: Mundine/Wood
Remember Mundine's philosphy is to "never give a sucker an even break", so some poor folk and clubs/pubs will still take his PPV garbage!
Re: Mundine/Wood
it obviously makes good profits or they wouldn't still be putting these shows on.
i bet some fighters on the card r getting a packet of chips and a drink as full payment, lol.

Some little birdy told me they were close friends in Juniors.............. must have been a liar birdD

................. my foxtel account will never list a Mundine fight as a PPV
They were not even in the same junior league. Garth was a South Sydney junior and Choc was a St George junior.

Re: Mundine/Wood
I saw his interview on Foxsports today and Mundine said he had never even met him before despite the rumours they were friends, he reckons that some of Mundines cousins are friends with Wood and thats were the rumours started.............. liar birds everywhereBrute wrote:Manassa Mauler wrote:Brute wrote: Mundine played for St George and Brisbane. Not many would mate. Mundine was winning the fight.scottmallon wrote:Wow, now that's shocking...I would have never thought this guy had a chance.ben k wrote:Garth KOd Mundine.
There was a lot of holding and wrestling. Woods landed a right behind mundines ear, then a left on the chin and it was all over.
Garth has now beaten Kariuki, Oganov and Mundine. Pretty good resume for a guy with 12 fights.

This wouold be the ideal outcome as Mundine could set up a decent money rematch with woods and not have to go overseas. He could say crap like "this boy got lucky so know I have tke care of business at home before I conquer the world". It would also make Woods a household name and I believe Box promotions have an interest in his future fights so that would also be good for Choc too. Mundine then wins the rematch on points, restores his "image", and doesn't have to go on and actuaaly fight a top 10 guy but still "get's paid".

I've been waiting a long time for this........suck shitt Mundine.

Re: Mundine/Wood
Was anyone else surprised that Mundine did not make more of the fact that the the first of the two punches that caused the knockdown seemed to land on the back of his head?
I suspect we will hear more from the Mundine camp when they review the fight.

Re: Mundine/Wood
I went to the local to watch it. I only saw two fights by the time I got there but from all accounts it was a terrible card....but I tell ya what, if I knew that outcome I would have paid to have it at home.
Mundine looked very ordinary from the start. It appeared to me his foot work was non existent (I know it has been slowly going over time but tonight was shocking). I am wondering just how much of a hinderance his hip probelms are. Great punch by Garth, landed flush........as for the back of the head punches by Garth, well when a ref wont take points off your opponent for holding for the entire bout you have to do something, and it worked. Mundine got his fair share of rabbit punches in.

Re: Mundine/Wood
Congratulations to Garth Wood, Mundine looked sloppy tonight, I don't think this weight suits him.
Re: Mundine/Wood
Hard to put into words how pathetic this result is.
