Latest VIP Boxing News

Post by Stegsie »

JAMIE MOORE – Attended this year’s British Boxing Boards of Control awards on Sunday and was delighted to come away with 2 trophies. Jamie was given a special award for his exceptional services to the sport and also won the fight of the year for his contest with Ryan Rhodes, this is the third time Jamie has won the award and we believe this to be a record.

JON KAYS – Will be missing Christmas this year as he prepares for a British title challenge to Gary Sykes on the 22nd January 2011 in Doncaster

STEVE HARKINS – Did not falter when his opponent was changed last Saturday night on the scales and had a comfortable points win over Alex Spitko.

KEVIN SATCHELL – Moved to 2-0 with a points win over the game Francis Croes who put up a brave effort and made for fight of the night in Liverpool .

JOLLY BOYS – The now legendry end of year VIP XMAS bash on the 19th December will feature Tommy Coyle , Stephen Jennings , Martin Grainger and Nick Quigley.

WIGAN DECEMBER 19TH -This show is looking good and will feature the following VIP fighters. Karl Place , Kerry Hope , Ryan Farag , Steve Harkins , Terry Needham , Craig Boardman , Shayne Singleton , Sean Crompton and the much anticipated debut of John Quigley.Tickets available from all the boxers or www.vipbe.co.uk

WWW.VIPBOXINGTV.COM – Will be at the shows and fights will be added on a regular basis. The Brian Rose v Lee Noble English title fight will be on within the next 7 days and you can view and make your own opinions if the 100-90 score by 1 of the judges was justified.

Looking forward to next year- could be a good one for VIP... Give Kays a real chance based on Sykes last performance- seen plenty of fighters ruined on the back of something like that.

Brian Rose Engish champ - should be looking to re-establish himself as a contender - think that Maxwell is the only road to that.

My tip for next year is Luke Blackledge. Good puncher, dead nice kid and a great story if one of you boxing writers are interested. I'd love to do it myslef but don't have the time (or ability) to do it justice.

Good to see Steven Harkin doing well too, not seen him fight yet but as a former opponent I know he was a very talented lad and might do well.

Looking forward to Sykes vs Kays. I think Sykes is a bit stronger and tougher than Kays and should win, but like the other poster said, he has suffered a shock setback and that could really have dented his confidence. Does it also show that he's a bit chinny? He was pretty badly KO'd! Kays doesn't really have the power to exploit that, but I'm sure he is relishing this fight now.

Must be a voluntary defence, has to be! Kays hasn't beaten anyone yet, but he's from Ashton, so fair play to the lad.

Cos I'm from Ashton originally, so I think well done to Kays for putting Ashton on the boxing map! :-) Good luck to the lad.
