ben tackie was a tough one.

i think to choose the best chin is to calculate who done the most rds & gruelling with the most noted banger's.

Calzaghe always had a good chin he was dropped a couple of times but never hurt.

Marion Wilson, George Foreman, Chris Eubank

George Foreman: I think Lyle and Ali only ever dropped him, Ali was more fatigue, while how he ever got up from Lyle I never know.
Marion Wilson: never authentically stopped.
Chris Eubank: enough said

Good one. Here is Wilson's record for those who aren't familiar with him. Only stoppage loss was on cuts as well.

Went the distance with punchers like:

Ike Ibbeabuchi
Shannon Briggs
Hasim Rahman
Oliver McCall
Sam Peter
Hasim Rahman
Erza Sellers
Jimmy Thunder
Ray Mercer (draw)
and many more.

Considering two of these men kayoed Lennox Lewis who had a sturdy chin himself.
I'd imagine being in the loosing corner he took these on pretty short notice which makes it all the more impressive.

David Tua had a quality chin.Calzaghe, like Holyfield, had a great chin, and even when he was hurt, he recovered super quick. Tough men.James Toney has too good a chin.Danny Green looks like he can take a whack, as does Carl Froch. The pacman can take one as well.

I think it's his watertight defence more than his solid chin that keeps him in fights

Whilst I agree he had a phenomenal chin, in the interests of accuracy I feel duty-bound to point out that Jimmy Young decked him as well. His punch resistance seemed to dissipate massively in respect to how fatigued he was, until his comeback, when he'd learned to pace himself better/not burn off such huge amounts of energy.

What about Ike Ibeabuchi? He seemed to go into war against everyone - he got hit flush repeatedly by a - at that time - undefeated David Tua who'd been knocking down opponents like ninepins. Ike would shake his head slightly, then back into the fray!

Still Margarito for me (currently). Mike McCullum was a brilliant call from chinny.

Past - Chuvalo, LaMotta, Hagler, Eubank, McCallum, Mercer, McCullough, Steve Collins, Ibeabuchi & Foreman to name but a few. I was also thinking about Sugar Ray Leonard. He had awesome chin in his early career, but he seemed to lose his punch resistance later on & ended up on the deck a fair few times, culminating in him being KOd by feather fister Hector Camacho, although he was 901 years old at the time.

Present - McCall, Mosley, Froch, Hopkins.

Underrated chins: Tyson - he took a hell of a punch, but he lacked stamina & heart.

Frank Bruno - contrary to popular belief, also took a good punch & had a big heart, but he just did not have the stamina, nor the ability to improvise under pressure & that's what led to his defeats (except Tyson 2, where he just bitched out of the fight, Audley Harrison style).

For me Eubank stands out, especially as he was a massive drainer
