Morally bankrupt for an Oscar fan means classy, devoted to family, true champion, etc.

It depends how you see the HOF.

Personally for me, Kostya is definitely HOF material. I would personally rate him a smidge below, for example, Lennox Lewis. Both guys who were undiputed champions, made many defenses mostly winning by KO or decisively on points, but never faced another great at their peak. Lennox gets the edge because he avenged his defeats. I have no idea where I would rate Tszyu on an all-time p4p list, but for me he is definitely HOF material.

Lennox's competition is miles above Tszyu's.

Their resumes would be more comparable if you took out Tua, Holyfield and Mercer and left Tyson (Lennox's shot JCC) and Golota/Morrison/Ruddock (akin to Judah/Mitchell)

Pity a fight with Chavez was not only for the linear crown, but it was also worth a hundred times what a fight with Tszyu would have made him. That, & the fact that the guy fought just about eveything that moved between 140-154lbs, but ducked Tszyu. LOL.

The fact of the matter is Oscar De La Hoya was a bigger, swifter, more versatile fighter than Tszyu, & he hit just as brutally at this weight, too. De La Hoya stops Tszyu.

They likely would have, were it not for Tszyu dropping the ball unexpectedly against Phillips. I am firmly of the contention that was ultimately good for Tszyu's health. De La Hoya would've given him a pretty bad beating at some point had they met. It's usually considered De La Hoya was faster & more adaptable than Tszyu, but rarely mentioned that at 140lbs, De La Hoya was additionally an absolute monster puncher, & no less punishing than Tszyu.

The first round of that fight was awesome. Hurtado looked very hurt after the first knockdown but he bit down and fought hard. I didn`t like the commentary of the fight though. Lampley and Roy Jones kept being shitheads in the rounds after the first. Those bodypunches from Tszyu were lethal in that fight.

Kostya deserves the nod. And yes historically there are those who deserve it more, but it's not like they got this wrong. Sometimes when a name comes up for the first time, and the history is fresh in people's minds, they commit then and there due to the fact that there is some current relevancy. It's a bit on the natural side. You remember Mr Natural dontcha?

Some of the folks that you and I may believe are more worthy are also out of the range of memory for most. No crime there, just the reality that people are willing to turn the page quicker than others would like. Or sometimes it seems the page just turns on it's own lol. I'm happy that the right people who people CAN remember get the nod when the memory is fresh. Some of the old school may never make it unless someone goes on a education campaign via movies. books, or some such.

The truth is rather different --- & more cynical. There is a greater bent than ever before to conduct elections with publicity in mind --- the trend has been obvious in recent years. Present-day, still-alive & still-with-their-faculties-&-some-degree-of-stardom remaining fighters & other figures are worth more in publicity & money, ultimately, to the Hall than are the best of the 1930's, 20's, etc. no matter how much more richly those men may be deserving of election.
