Re: Paul (Smigga) Smith V (James Chunky) Degale
I really really really want Smith to do a number on DeGale (Even though he has been less arrogant in this build up).
Trouble is i think The minute DeGale lands a few in succession the bout will be stopped....It is a FW card after all.
Come on Smigga !!!

Re: Paul (Smigga) Smith V (James Chunky) Degale
cant wait for this one!Im hoping for a Smith win, hoping experience will win thru.A defeat on degales record at this time will just knock his money down a bit, not end his career.Like wise, a defeat wouldnt end smiggas, paul to use his experience to take degale into the later rounds where de gale could be found wanting. One thing that smith wont be, proven 12 round fighter.
Re: Paul (Smigga) Smith V (James Chunky) Degale
agree with you on that if it goes laste smigga will come out on top but dont agree with u on if pauls loses it is not the end of his carere. if paul gets beat it is the end of his carere its shit or bust for smigga !!
Re: Paul (Smigga) Smith V (James Chunky) Degale
Hope I am wrong but I think Degale on cuts.
Re: Paul (Smigga) Smith V (James Chunky) Degale

I think we all hope Paul smith wins, however degale seems to have that little sparkle to his boxing that could take him to a world title one day, guess this fight will judge just how good he is cuz smith is certainly gonna be a tough fight

I think Smith is being sacrificed like Steve Robinson for Naz.

Couldn't agree more! Naz was a great champion but Robbo was almost rushed/bullied into taking that fight.Pugilist-specialist wrote:I think Smith is being sacrificed like Steve Robinson for Naz.
I reckon Degale is a better fighter than Smith but this match up may have come 1 or 2 fights too soon? Smith's experience and home crowd may swing it for him. Great fight in prospect though, can't wait!
Re: Paul (Smigga) Smith V (James Chunky) Degale
degale as steped up with the big boys too soon he will get beat it might not be classy but i win is a win :)
Re: Paul (Smigga) Smith V (James Chunky) Degale
Wasn't Naz suddenly made no1 at feather with the WBO, having never fought at the weight?patlallyjack wrote: Couldn't agree more! Naz was a great champion but Robbo was almost rushed/bullied into taking that fight.
Re: Paul (Smigga) Smith V (James Chunky) Degale
Smith just needs to stick with it and stick with it for the first 3 or 4 rounds as Degale tries to pepper him and turn him.
The fight is won in the middle and late rounds for Smith if he can make Degale expend as much energy early doors before catching up and landing telling punches later.
The advantages he has are crowd, experience and grit. And he needs them to overcome the pedigree and flash of Degale, who is the betting favourite.

i very much agree, gomez. keep it tight, don't worry about being out-scored on flurries, make degale use the ring and use up his energy, try to land to the body and try to jump on degale if/when he switches stance at an inappropriate moment.

I think smigga will get stopped on cuts in a fairly even scrap

Re: Paul (Smigga) Smith V (James Chunky) Degale
I see DeGale winning on points, I hope he uses more movement than trying to stay in the pocket and counter, he's so much better when moving and coming in with combo's I think if he does that he'll get off to a good start but Smith will come on strong in the middle rounds with his good jab and constant pressure will throw DeGale ofuntil the last few rounds he'll go back to the movement not letting Smigga get set and seeing out a close, competitive bout.
Re: Paul (Smigga) Smith V (James Chunky) Degale
at first I thought Smith would stop him with hard punching but I've changed my mind I expect Degale to canter home 6 rounds to the good if not more, that's if he doesn't force a stoppage from round 7 or 8 onward which I wouldn't rule out.
Re: Paul (Smigga) Smith V (James Chunky) Degale
Riot if it is an early stoppage!
DeGale can get turn some haters if he goes in deep and pulls it off, then shows a bit of respect instead of bowling around the ring like he does. Saying that, we do not know if he has it in him for a scrap. Khan is flash, but land on the button and he goes for a kip!
IMO, I hope Smigga knocks DeGale down a peg.

Re: Paul (Smigga) Smith V (James Chunky) Degale
Smigg tko 9. Been saying it for ages now. Degales very good, but this is way too early for him. He won't get away with his tricks and moves without pay off from smigga. Smigga maybe to lose first 3 rounds, comes in strong middle, doing degale with uppercuts. Brung it!
Re: Paul (Smigga) Smith V (James Chunky) Degale
I think Degale will win, but he is way too arrogant for my liking, so I am hoping Smith comes out on top. I think Degale is just too talented and skilled. Then again, he has never had to go through 36 minutes of boxing with a guy as tough as Smith. Hopefully Smith's experience and grit come through, but I don't think they will.
Re: Paul (Smigga) Smith V (James Chunky) Degale
I think this fight will be a great indication of what standard Degale is. I think he is being thrown in deep, but then FW must be very confident to risk one of his golden geese. He showed with Smith's brother he is willing to throw them in deep if he thinks they are good enough
Re: Paul (Smigga) Smith V (James Chunky) Degale
Calculated move imo by FW.
I definately feel he is sacrificing Smith, as someone said in an earlier post.
Dont like DeGale, dont rate him as highly as others and he himself does. I hope Smith can win, but its a FW showcase, so I dont expect Smith to get any favours, regardless of the fact it's in Liverpool, not from the judges or referee.
C'mon Paul

Re: Paul (Smigga) Smith V (James Chunky) Degale
Come on, lads. It's impossible to be hypothetical in these fights. None of us really know how good DeGale really is. So, to me, this fight does depend on how good DeGale is. If DeGale can be exploited he will have it tough - if DeGale is potential world-class, then he'll beat Smith. No question.
Intriguing fight, but not worth £15, even with the Khan fight.

Re: Paul (Smigga) Smith V (James Chunky) Degale
not necessarily...smith is around world class himself and with like 20 fights more experience, in his hometown with the crowd behind him?if DeGale is potential world-class, then he'll beat Smith. No question.
i think it's a tough ask for degale....unless fw knows something we don't....
nice to see a competitive match up tho.
Re: Paul (Smigga) Smith V (James Chunky) Degale
Smith is not world-class, nor has he proved he's on the edge of it. He's struggled against domestic/European quality opponents. I like Smith, but he'll never win a proper world-title. Unless it's the Alex Arthur way. I do hope he beats that c*nt though.
