Garth Woods' next move
Re: Garth Woods' next move
Yes Sir, he has fought at Super-Middle previously has been fighting Cruisers and the odd heavy in NZ just to get fights until dropping down to his more natural weight of light-heavy to stop Kiyota in Japan in the 1st and win the OPBF title.
Bostic can easily make Super-Middle, just throwing his name in the mix we'd take that fight for sure Woods is a marked man now he can make some big fights locally

Re: Garth Woods' next move
He's not the man yet, he's got to beat the best at Super middle, and Mundine at Super middle wasn't the best, Bika would have done far worse to that skeletal Mundine.N2 Shape wrote:Yes Sir, he has fought at Super-Middle previously has been fighting Cruisers and the odd heavy in NZ just to get fights until dropping down to his more natural weight of light-heavy to stop Kiyota in Japan in the 1st and win the OPBF title.

And when people were mentioning big names for money, why did you throw Bostics name into the ring? How about Bostic fights Kariuki at LT Heavy? That would be a good fight.
Fark it's been less than a week, and I'm already wanting the Man who beat the "The Man" to get in the ring and fight a real supermiddle fairly.

Re: Garth Woods' next move
it will probably be a rematch with mundine
Re: Garth Woods' next move
Mundine rematch makes sense. I cant see Wood moving much further than the Australasian scene, I hope he does well, but he would appear to be one of those tough spoilers who'll beat a few decent fighters like Mundine but just as easily be beaten by some no name. Wonder how much he earned from the bout

Re: Garth Woods' next move
Garth Wood and great to see him KO Mundine I realy dought he could win an Aussie title, not putting him down but no way.
Re: Garth Woods' next move
He is talking about Barry Wood, Garths father. A former 1st grade rugby league player with Newtown,Souths and Norths in the 70s.dberry wrote:Who's dad was annoying? Tony's dad? Tony the dad? Anthony's dad? Who?! Please clear this up for me.

why was his dad getting involved.
Re: Garth Woods' next move
Garth's father: Barry said on Sky radio this morning that a rematch was a possibility but dealing with the Mundine camp was a nightmare as they are carrying on like they won the fight and are demanding a 70:30 cut in Mundine's favour to stage a rematch.
Re: Garth Woods' next move
thats all mundine is fighting for $$$$, dosnt surprise me he is asking for the bigger purse, cause win or lose, where does he go from there
Re: Garth Woods' next move
Sounds about right. Out cold for a ten count Choc would still think he won.
Re: Garth Woods' next move
Mundine's (and Dunny Bill Williams) media stooge and apologist: Danny Weidler wrote this today in the Fairfax papers about the status of a rematch from the Mundine camp:
FAIRWEATHER FRIENDS
The Anthony Mundine camp is fuming at Foxtel for the way it has treated ''The Man'' since his loss to Garth Wood. No one is taking away from Wood's stunning and well-deserved victory but the way Foxtel has been running commercials on high rotation congratulating Wood has really got Mundine and his manager, Khoder Nasser, going. Mundine has been the most bankable fighter for Main Event, Foxtel's pay-per-view arm, and has made millions for the network over the years. To make things worse, none of the bigwigs at Foxtel, those whose futures depend on the bottom line, bothered to call Mundine after his loss. To say it has been noticed is an understatement. The issue is there is no viable alternative pay-per-view channel so Mundine is stuck with Main Event, which will continue to take money out of his future fights. It appears there are serious doubts about a Mundine-Wood rematch taking place. Control of the promotion is the central issue; the other is a venue. Wood wants to fight in Sydney. Mundine wants the bout out of town.
And the Wood camp has been quick to deliver another slap to The Man. Wood's father, Barry, who revealed that Danny Green is trying to get in on the act and fight Mundine at a catchweight, said: ''Anthony's puerile hubris is nothing but a curtain of fear and a desperate grab at a quickly diminishing ability to earn a quid.''
Re: Garth Woods' next move
Looks like his next move could be a rematch in March, suprise suprise. I am guessing this one will be a competitive fight with a bit of back and forth until Mundine lands a telling blow and jumps on Garth getting a TKO win. Ofcourse then we will have to have a decider - Mundine v Wood 3. That shoulkd secure them their retirement funds - WWE Baby!

Re: Garth Woods' next move
I heard Anthony on Fox news not that long a go saying that the rematch might not happen at all, which doesn't surprise me at all, he's never rematched anyone that's flogged him.
The only thing i'll add is if i was the Wood camp, I'd take the 70-30 split, because the Wood camp will never earn that sort of money for years to come, and that statement is based on the fact that Wood go's on from here and cleans out the Supermiddle here and brings a very well known opponent over here. IMO the Wood camp shouldn't be carrying on, i mean the win is a ripple and a very small ripple in a stream as far as the world is concerned, Mundine was loosing credability around the World since the Green win.
Now is not the time to get Greedy, if he beats Mundine foe the second time, well hey... it's a very good victory, but it has to be at Supermiddle, none of these other weights. But until then it's a Rahman/Lewis scenario.....a lucky punch, a poor refs job, Mundine was sick from massive weightloss, Mundine barely training....theres so many excuses that could be made by the Mundine camp, I mean Mundine could even lodge a case/appeal and possibly have the decision overturned.....
The Rematch needs to happen as far as the Woods camp is concerned, Garth's dad needs a cup of shut the fark up as well and Mundine needs to man up and write his wrong and then move up to LT Heavy were all S/M who are 35 going on 36.....not the other way around.

Re: Garth Woods' next move
i think when a fighter drops a weight late in age & then step's back up they are fuked.
Re: Garth Woods' next move
Typical journo. Does not know the difference between "revealed" and "alleged." What evidence does Wanker Weidler have that Barry Wood knows what Danny green is planning?Beltane wrote:Mundine's (and Dunny Bill Williams) media stooge and apologist: Danny Weidler wrote this today in the Fairfax papers about the status of a rematch from the Mundine camp:
