Even the worst haters have to take their hats off to Amir for last nights performence. This ids a fighter who was sparked out just over 2 years ago and has come back to prove many wrong with hard work. For my money he showed everything you want in a champ:
Power
speed
heart
chin

Credit must given to his conditioning and his fighting heart as he was in with one tough man last night who was better than i thought. Maidana came on really strong in many parts of that fight and in the past Khan would of folded but he didnt.

I cant believe that on another thread a few are mentioning drugs for his improvments

I would like to say well done khan. I never liked khan before this fight because he had been protected. But last night he proved him self as a world class fighter. to take the shots he did, For me he proved he is a complete fighter. As for all the drugs talk what aload of crap this is the same people who said lacy and abraham was over rated when joe and froch schooled them, why do we criticise when one of our boxers put on a world class performance people always find an excuse. why can we just admire what we see last night.

Khan has really won me over.He showed fantastic heart in there last night and shut a lot of critics up. I thought he was a goner in the 10th when his legs buckled and Maidana was all over him but he managed to stay upright and hold on.

His punch resistance has improved and it was nice to see him earn his corn against someone who actually earned the right to be in the opposite corner.

Khan won my respect last night. When he tagged Maidana with a big right, I think it was in the 11th, I actually pumped my fist (it was truly Henman-esque) and shouted "go on!" He showed real balls to get through that. Great fight as well, feel like I got my 15 quid's worth.

There will always be people trying to diminish his achivements. It's the same with every big fighter we've had. Another post mentioned it; Lacy was supposed to blow Calzaghe away, but when JC schooled him he was suddenly "over-rated". Kostya Tszyu was odds-on fav against Hatton, he was a class above him, but when Hatton won Tszyu was suddenly "shot".

End of the day Maidana was/is universally acknowledged as the biggest puncher in the division. Khan took his shots, held on & got through it and found a way to win. Fair play to him.

Great fight last night, well worth the £15, first PPV I have bought in a while and felt there were enough good fights to justify it. Khan will have won a lot of people over with last night's pewrformance, including me, he showed a lot of bottle and his conditioning must be world class to surive that onslaught in 10th round and still have the legs to get on his bike for the next couple of rounds.

Look i have criticised khan , i hate his annoying way of talking....the apparent hypocrisy in his nice boy image with his carousing .....but hey he is a young man growing up none of us are perfect....but credit where credit is due.....the horrible false unproven slanderous allegations plucked out of the air by nasty horrid little men beset by racist bitterness is appalling especially after khans greatest night when he showed the heart and will to win that is his trademark.

I don't think Khan's heart as ever been questioned. He showed balls the Gomez and Limond nights. Dominated the round he got KD against Gomez after and went on to beat Limond up what was it 2 rounds after a very hard KD.

One of the most shocking things for me was just how clueless Khan was on the inside. Maidana didn't miss with an uppercut in close. If you have a referee that allows this work it could be serious danger.

As I've posted in another thread, it's Freddie's patented "put the earmuffs on & lean forward, you'll be all right" school of defence against uppercuts. Pacquiao does it all the time as well.

Excellent fight and excellent performance from Khan, it dispelled any fears that Khan has no chin. He boxed to the plan very well, although Maidana did manage to drag him into the trenches at times.

Fair play to Khan for taking the fight as numerous people suggested he'd duck Maidana, but he took him on and beat him in a brutal war. The Yanks must be loving Khan after Saturdays fight. Bring on Bradley-Alexander or even a rematch with Maidana (I could definitely watch that again)

The prick who's suggesting/intimating that Khan is on PED's, because he didn't get KO'd (isn't that libellous) needs to the banned to the current scene for a month. He'd fit in well over there.

Joe Cortez was apparently close to stopping it aswell, think he had a word with Roach at the end of the 10th saying Khan was taking too much punishment. He done really well in the 11th to recover.

Khan had one heck of a scrap saturday night, and thoroughly deserved his win. In fact, in my opinion the margin should have been larger than it was, had Mr Cortez been watching the same fight that the rest of us were..............

But, refereeing apart, Khan still has a lot to learn. Whilst I dont believe his heart, bravery, and sheer strength can be questioned right now, I do think that his defensive skills still require major work. Too often he was open to the uppercut from Maidana, and seemingly, the entire arena could see the looooooooong, slooooooooooooow (but incredibly hard) overhand right hands coming in long before Khan did. Mr Roach needs to get him back in the gym quickly, to avoid many more fights like that. No-one wants to see a potential great have his career cut short by too many nights like Saturday.

But well done Amir Khan. And i gotta say, very disappointed that just because a boxer shows major improvements, does someone immediately jump to the crazy conclusion that he is on drugs............ Shame on you!!!

i agree with what you're saying but i think khan has shown such drastic improvement between each fight, i think they are identifying his weeknesses and then working on them. i think his inside fighting and defence will be much better in the next fight.

Ring fighter of 2010? or has that already been awarded to someone?
