Maidana - the best win so far... the best performance...?

Post by m1kee50 »

Khan beats known puncher, thats something you never thought you'd read lol. But what is Khans best performance to date? IMO given the way Kotelnik gave Alexander massive problems, Khans fight with Kotelnik was his best outing in terms of performance.

This fight got his name well and truly out there in the States, but his defence was quite sloppy at times last night and got caught silly a few times against the crude Maidana saying that he showed great boxing ability and a massive heart and a good gameplan for when he got hurt. For me his best performance was Kotelnik he was punch perfect he landed nice combo's and his jab was superb in that fight

Yes best 'win' - not his best performance though, nearly got steam rolled at one point. But that goes with the territory of fighting LEGIT opponents.

Maidana was very limited but with heavy hands (Ricardo Torres?) but had fought his way up the rankings and was there 100% on merit.

How it should be.

Think Kotelnik was his best performance, but last night was definitely his best win.

Something i can't put my finger on last night. Khan, last night, really impressed me with his chin, heart and ability to get through periods of sustained pressure and he is certainly winning me round.

Having said this, i expected a clear points win; Khan to go in, get his shots off, and get on his bike like he did with Kotelnik. If Khan had kept to the gameplan last night, i think he'd have made it an easier night's work. So from that perspective, i think he was a touch dissapointing. However, I think he can be excused for getting a bit excited as he was topping the bill in Vegas for the first time against someone he was accused of ducking. Freddie Roach will kick him up the backside and not let that happen again so I think Khan's future looks very bright.

He put Maidana down so hard in round 1, can understand why he went to try and finish him, even though it gassed him.
