is Maselino Masoe the most forgotton champ ever?
he won the WBA middleweight championship when Hopkins was promoted to superchamp, rediculous i know.

he won it in may last year with a good second round win over unbeaten Evans Ashira.

There's more US ( / boxing world) interest in Masoe - Hopkins than in Mormeck - Nelson.

The Thai Khaosai Galaxy is one of the most forgotten champs he was WBA Super Flyweight champ from 1984 to his retirement in 1991 and had only one early career defeat in 48 fights.

Have to say, I've got a lot of his fights on video at home, and I think he was lucky he was in a weak division, his skills were terrible. Great puncher, but no technique and no defence at all.

The guy couldnt help what era he was in. For any fighter to go through his division the way he did and go undefeated for so long he deserves to be remembered

Yes, he was one of the better champs, I just don't think his skills were anything special is all. He was as good as Fenech, and Fenech gets a lot of credit.

yeah but he was fun to watch. I've got a couple of his fights on tape, when you watch them you can't beleive he was in the Super-fly division, he looks massive.

He is a huge hero in Thailand, I tried to find out where he was or what he was up to on a trip there, but no success

He was inducted to the Hall Of Fame in 1999. Rumour has it that he was quite a man with the ladies and he had a different woman at ringside for each of his title fights!

I get in a lot of Thai, Japanese, Korean Boxing and it is amazing how tough these guys are, most are huge hearted warriors who despite being not so technically refined hardly ever take a backward step, some of the fights are relentless.

I will never forget his bravery vs Freitas.

"You will be the champion after me", was Freitas' own words to Jones.

Also will never forget him because he shares my Father's name, so there was a few jibes about that.

I have to say, that all those champs are maybe not the best known, but i still rekon Maselino Masoe tops them, he is still be the belt holder, and i had completly forgotton about him till he was mentioned on fightnews.

Boxrec have him as Inactive, do you think the WBA have just forgotton that he holds one of there belts? and are now wondering who the f*ck he is

There are lots of champs who are criminally underrated or forgotten (mainly because they weren't media friendly, or it is hard to get media of them).

Unfortunately it is hard to feel sorry for Masoe, since even the man on the street knows there is only one World Champion at middleweight.

Whats the story behind Sutherland? was he brought up in Scotland or did he move to USA when he was young?
