I thought DeGale looked brilliant. Smith is a very decent domestic operator, as evidenced by his wins. I'm looking forward to seeing what DeGale does next. He's not a big puncher, but his style is quite good to watch.

Great win in only his ninth fight. One good thing about PPV is that it really forces Warren to push his fighters on. If he wasn't forced to build them through PPV, I swear, DeGale wouldn't have been here for at least another eight or ten fights.

Terrific performance, but outrageously hyped by the Sky boys. I've noticed of late that they're becoming really corporatised in their analysis, really pushing the house fighters. The way they giddily eulogised about DeGale after the fight I half expected Barry McGuigan to stand up, lop out his todger and have a slow moaning tommy tank over the desk while Clark and Nelson grunted and moaned, "Huuummm, DeGale.... oooohhh...yeaaah... Chunky... mmmmm yeah" and praised McGuigan's physical performance of how good and exciting DeGale's performance was. "There you have it, folks. It was that fcuking good."

On a more serious note, DeGale's jab needs serious work. It's bloody awful, and there's no reason why it can't be a genuine weapon. To be honest, there's no reason it can't be his most dangerous weapon, with those fast, accurate hands.

He's got all the attributes both physically and mentally to push on and be a big star, I've always rated amir khan but this guy for me looks better than khan did after 10 fights, the only question I can think of is will he be able to keep on learning at the highest level like khan has or will the cockyness get in the way??

Didnt see the fight - did Degale seem to cope well with the extra rounds? I take it stamina isn't an issue at this stage?

For what it's worth, my friend had to meet with him in a professional capacity recently and said he's a really nice guy who didn't come across as arrogant in any way, shape or form.

Great performance from Degale, he's another one of up and comers who looks like he'll go far. Beating a very good British champion in your 9th fight with a performance like that is something special

You have got to give DeGale some credit for having the balls to step up to the plate, box in Paul's home town and boxed really well, he looks big at the weight. I was rooting for Paul Smith and thought he would be to tough for DeGale , and hate to say it but DeGale looked to fast and slippery. Good luck to both, hope Paul can have a couple 8 or 10 rounders, possibly even drop down to MW and come again. :TU:

DeGale was favourite but for me went way beyond expectation. Smith has been a good British champion and will no doubt come again but DeGale proved he is something special. Yes there were a few flaws that could be nitpicked from the performance but it was entirely dominant, controlled, and classy. You can't just judge Chunkys performance on its own, you have to consider the ability of the opponent, his own lack of pro experience, and going into the lions den for the fight. Magnificent stuff.
