The incredible Terry Dunstan is said to be close to a shot at Alexander Frenkel for the European cruiserweight title in Germany.
Dunstan, a pro since 1992, fights younger as he gets older. The 42-year-old Londoner really upset the applecart in his last fight when he stopped David Dolan on away turf in Sunderland (six rounds). Victory secured Dunstan the English cruiserweight title and showed that age is no barrier to talent. Dunstan is still fast and athletic, still a big puncher, and he does have a shout against Frenkel, who we know for a brutal (and brutally late) knockout of Enzo Maccarinelli in Birmingham last September, which won him the EBU belt.
The unbeaten German has stopped nine of his last 10 opponents but lacks great variety and was struggling against Maccarinelli when he uncorked a big left hook to essentially finish the fight. Make no mistake about it, BOTH Frenkel and Dunstan can whack. Even on home turf, Frenkel won't have it easy.
