dean powell again!

Post by hurlock »

he seem's to keep the corner's together like a stabalizer :!:

is this a good thing??? does it show a weak corner??

nicky piper criticised farnell for telling bellew to press, saying bellew's jab could win him the fight. i thought piper's comment was fukin stupid as ovil was dangerous pushing back bellew & plus the fact he'd dropped him twice allready.[piper loves the fact he has this well documented i.q & is far from the expert he see's himself as.

Dean was brilliant last night and I really do need the guy, he's a good fella and knows the game!! Arnie was good too and had my full attention this time!! He was spot on with what he was saying, Mckenzie on the front foot is dangerous he really is!! Arnie just said to push him back with. An educated jab!! Good advice IMHO

I never really taught much of him until last night. He was outstanding last night. The thing with Cleverly is that having your father in your corner can work against you sometimes and last night sort of did but if Dean Powell wasn't in Cleverly's corner IMO Cleverly would have been stopped in the next one or two rounds.

If thats the case that would be a big blow to Clev.Powell acts as unofficial chief trainer whenever Nathan fights. He used to do the same when Nigel Wright boxed in big title bouts and has even spoke over Enzo Calzaghe when he has had something to say.The guy has superb knowledge and experience to share and there are only the likes of Tibbs who he works with who he would leave alone.

bomber....

after you dropped him with the sweet left hook, the referee then stopped the fight without you landing another punch....why?

surely if the ref was happy for mackenzie to continue after the knockdown, then he should at least have been happy for him to take another shot or 2 before he stopped it.

all in all a good result for you bomber, you showed good power and a big heart... still a bit open to those shots though mate. but well done anyway.

I've known Dean a lot of years now and would swear by the bloke's boxing knowledge. Unlike a lot of trainers or boxing figures, Dean has never given himself the biggie, he's never been a self publicist or a limelight hugger. He just does his job and does it bloody well, as anyone who has worked with him - like Bomber and Frankie on this thread - will tell you. And I can honestly say that the fella hasn't changed one bit from the days when he was scraping a living to today, when he's in a good position. Genuine fella, lot of time for him, lot of admiration for him as a pro.

i liked how dean told clev to take his arm's of the ropes it's little thing's like that which show's you he looks after his corner well. im a geek i'll watch how the cutman deals with bruises & cut's i watch the ref's even look round ringside to see which idiot use's there mobile :DDD

I must be a geek too then Hurlock, I love watching corners work. Does my head in when the commentators talk over them or, worse still they have ad breaks between rounds.

Struggling to remember which fight, but who was the cornerman dressed like a pirate on Saturday? Bandana, big earring and waistcoat. Strange.

That's the one I think! Looked very strange, and yes didn't understand him coming out to the Haka either.

Yeah he was in Mohammedi's corner. He looked like he should have been selling watches on a beach in Tenerife!
