Yesterday was one of the prettiest days of the year in Southern Cal.
I just got to work and one of the guys on my crew said he was surfing the point in Malibu at 8am.Sunday and then was snow boarding at Mount Waterman shortly after noon.
It was in the low 80's, clear blue skies and I was wearing shorts and a T-shirt.
Nature cleaned up the Southland weather for Frank Baltazar's birthday.

Monica says to me last night, "Honey, I found the perfect Xmas gift, something I really want. A new Iron and ironing board."
I'd already reserved something a little more thoughtful than domestic appliances (thought I'd break her into the reality of "keeping a man" slowly)

"Well, OK baby. But wouldn't you prefer something more romantic?"
"Why, the honeymoon was over long ago. I need a new iron"

I must be doing something right, huh?

I want to dedicate this song to my wife, Connie, on our 56th Wedding Anniversary, In those 56 years we have learned to accept and give our love to each other without hiding, without treating it as if it was some sort of weakness, that and the fact that we can banter with each other I think has help us stay together this many years. And Babe, I still want to see 70 of marriage...

Why not? I live in a condo so there isn't much of a yard. For the clothesline, I could string up a line between our car's radio antennas in the garage or maybe just have her hang the clothes from our balcony, like Granny Clampett or Ma Quarry would do? It would also send a message to our Homeowner's Association.

The romantic Christmas gifts went away after about our fifth anniversary. (However, that said, Linda and I got married on December 27th so we share something romantic on the anniversary.)

Frank, I can't tell you how much it touched me to read this. It takes one hell of a man to declare his love for his wife, after so many years, like that with his friends. You're the kind of man my father was and I can't think of a better compliment to give you than that.

You and Connie are rich in ways that money can't buy. You have a great family Frank, and I know how proud you are of all of them. You sir, are a true American success story.
