Just looking for some opinions on Weds fight. Lindsay looks like the class here and the fight is in Ireland. Any comments appreciated

Haven't seen much of Lindsay but having seen a lot of simpson I would never write him off against anyone.
He can box, he can brawl, has the heart of a champion and he's hungry since losing his commonwealth title.
Gonna be a good fight, can't choose a winner tho as I don't know much about Lindsay.

Putting it simply, Martin Lindsay is a banger. He showed that when he won the British featherweight title with an impressive six-round stoppage of previously unbeaten Scot Paul Appleby last year. The strong, wiry Belfast man defends his title against former holder John Simpson at the King's Hall in Belfast on Wednesday (December 15).
Lindsay has the edge. Simpson dropped his British title to Appleby on a decision in 2008, having won the belt with an upset cuts win over Manchester's Andy Morris a couple of years earlier. Simpson proved a fighting champion, smashing Morris in seven rounds in a rematch and tall Londoner Ryan Barret in five rounds, so a win over Lindsday would secure him a Lonsdale Belt for life, but then came Appleby, although it was close, desperately close, and Simpson came back to win the Commonwealth featherweight title from Middlesbrough's Paul Truscott, losing it last time out to Liverpool's unbeaten Stephen Smith on a tight decision.
Now with a record of 21-7 (9), the gritty, clever, sharp-hitting Simpson has never been stopped and actually fights better away from home than he does in his native Scotland, so the trip to Belfast to face a puncher like Lindsay holds no fears for him, although he is up against it.
Unbeaten in 17 fights, Lindsay made his name when he blasted Liverpool's Derry Matthews - a man who had beaten Simpson - in nine rounds in Sheffield in 2008, finishing the job with a cracking left hook. His title win over Appleby only confirmed his obvious power and potential. Lindsay floored and outscored gutsy Welshman Jamie Arthur in his first defence earlier this year, a man who is now the Commonwealth super-bantamweight king.
To the fight, and Simpson is tough enough and seasoned enough to make it hard for the home man over the 12 rounds, and it will go 12 rounds, barring injury, but in front of raucous support Lindsay comes out with the decision and the title.

Simpson looked very good in his fights with Truscott and will be a real challenge for Lindsay. A late stoppage or a points win for Lindsay would be my pick if I was forced but I wouldn't risk a penny on this one. Should be good.

I cant for the life of me think why people feel Martin will stop john simpson? Martin is a very good fighter but far from a big puncher,simpson punches the harder of the two and will prove it come fight night.Simpson is 100% up for this fight

I remember similar comments being made prior to the Smith fight and it didn't happen (John won that fight IMO).

Ok Macman stopped appleby on his feet (maybe a bit early) and KO'd derry but matthews had been KO'd 2 fights previously by choi and John also had derry down.

Dont think that Martin is feather-fisted but he isn't a heavy-handed monster.

If he does stop Simpson then fair play but cant see it happening.

Cant wait for this one, I hear John is preparing to put everything in the line as he knows long way if he loses. Lindsay hasnt fought someone as tough as Simpson, including Appelby, and wont stop him. Unfortunately I think this one ends in another heartbreaking split decision loss for Simpson. I hope hes being paid well for this one.

Unfortunately I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case - again! Smith, dazzo williams and appleby were so tight and could have went either way. The matthews fight wasn't short of controversy. The guy is due a break!

be intresting to see how much simpson has left, he dont sell ticket's which allway's effect's the scoring card's.he's taken more knock's then a scouse mini-cab driver D
if lindsay can do a job it will be very impressive & people will either say smith took out the stuffing or lindsay is another league.

after boxing both lads i thought id give my view on fight i think john simson will win , everyone goin on about lindsey if hes a world clss fighter dont get me wrong he is a top fighter but i just think john will win , lets not forget i was giving lindsay a boxing lesson all through the fight had him over aswel until he caught me with that cracker of a hook what would of kod a horse , but good luck to both fighters may the best man win and then we will see swifty ste smith take both belts of the winner

I think Simpson is a really interesting case- imagine he was a big ticket seller and had been matched accordingly. Everything about his career would be different, including his own perception of good he is, which is a factor not to be underestimated. I thought Simpson won clearly against Smith and he looked slow to get his shots off in that fight! He's a far better fighter than his record and status suggests having been in tough away from home against supposed rising stars in just about every significant fight in his career. People also forget that he's only 27, just two years older than Stephen Smith. Just goes to show the massive part that luck, timing and most importantly ticket sales can have in fighters getting a 'push'.

I really can't see any domestic Featherweight stoping Simpson, he's as tough as they come! I see Lindsay getting off to an early lead but getting clawed back but Martin just getting it on the cards in a cracker!

I seen Lindsay fighting in Sunderland the other month in a 6 rounder, some of the body shots he were whipping in were ferocious, fair play to the lad he was fighting that night he certainly earned his paycheck.

Fancy Lindsay in the this one by UD but I wouldn't rule out a stoppage win.
