This month's Boxing Monthly

Post by urbanraida »

Popped into WH Smith's this afternoon to see if The Ring was in yet (It wasn't) and was startled to see BM a couple of days early. And once I got 'ome, removed th cool-as-ever calendar and sat down for a read the first thought that hit me was "What the blazes is Frochy's missus doin' on the cover, posing with Lenny Daws?"

Worst kept secret in boxing mate. Carl Froch IS Lenny Daws. Fact. We just had to break the story, we've been sitting on it for years, you had a right to know ;;-)

It's an honour to be scooped by The Gilf. There's just no beating a man of that calibre.

Cheers Matt.

It would be great to set the odd F5 again but I just get the feeling that somehow they wouldn't transfer as smoothly over here as they did over on the lil' old BM Guestbook (RIP).

Great mag, just been reading it, really liked the article on good ol Leon Spinks - nice to see he's found a life for himself after all the chaos.

Very nice boxrec forum plug from Glyn :TU:

That's no good, stupid Xmas posties. Ring the office - 0208 986 4141 - ask for Sue, tell her you've been speaking to me and that I've asked her to send you a new one out.

Just Reading it,enjoyed the micky ward part, what a warrior that guy was,I must have watched my ward/gatti trilogy DVD 20 times, interesting to see the icons he looked up to.
I've been Reading this magazine for the best part of 20 years since I bought it on a train trip to Scotland as a 12 year old and read it from front to back in one go so I'd just like to take the opportunity to thank Glyn, cheers mate good work :TU:

Glyn update the website! and let me see Lenny Daws and Carl Froch's missus 'together on the cover' in a tabloid exposure type way.

If not I'm gonna buy it Friday anyhow.

Another great year for BM, well done to Glyn and the team. I've really enjoyed some of the more behind the scenes stuff - the TV situation, comparisons to UFC etc - and the features on ex-boxers. Also great to see the coverage given to the amateur set up ahead of next year's worlds and 2012. Oh, and being interviewed for the mag was a real personal highlight - thanks a lot Glyn!!

To top it all off, my BM mug arrived yesterday. Jurassic Park! Here's to a great 2011, I just hope Klitschko vs Hasslehoff happens...

Glyn, I've been thinking about taking on a subscription with you guys.

Seems like a must read to add it to the Boxing News, The Ring and Mersey Gloves subs that I already hold.

Do you do any deals for guys that use direct debit or take out annual subs etc.

Can I just say, if you roused Astronormus to be a monthly or even bi-monthly feature, I'd probably take out another subscription, to go along with the one I already have.

Well done guys, fantastic issue.

That last shot on the calendar terrified the fvck outta me, though. RJJ looks like Archie Moore -- not Archie Moore in the Sixties, like, but Archie Moore yesterday...

By far and away my favourite magazine. 2010 really was a good year for BM! My only criticism is the look of it. The graphics and style just seem quite, well, boring and outdated. I like BN's look a lot. I wonder if a re-design is on the cards for 2011?
