Don't matter about what his personality is like, the kid can box and that's what the game is all about. Personally i think he is quite funny, wouldnt it be boring if all the boxers were just like "erm ye, i'm just gonna see how it goes". He is confident, and with good reason imo. The future's bright, the future is chunky! hahalefty wrote:no he's just arrogant!MachoMan09 wrote:He has a tongue in cheek humour that many miss. Don't take his comments the wrong way.

Re: smith talks about the fight
showed a lack of class there. needs to get back to middleweight.
Re: smith talks about the fight
Just seems like hurt pride talking to me. Immediately after a fight it's understandable. If he refused an interview it would have looked even more like sour grapes. Maybe he should have said "the best man won" through gritted teeth and left it at that until he had come to terms with the loss.
Re: smith talks about the fight
These comments are most embarrassing and difficult to read.
DeGale was in his 9th pro fight and won it easily.
How can he then be referred to by Smith as what he expected him to be and that he was nothing special?
He outclassed Smith in every possible way and Smith should be thankful that the referee stopped the fight when he did, in order to spare him further pain and embarrassment.

Looks like Smith can't face the forums after being outclassed by degale.
Re: smith talks about the fight
That interview smacks of sour grapes, sadly.
Re: smith talks about the fight
I like Smith but that's a big case of sour grapes.
After 9 pro fights DeGale's already the best super middle in Britain after Froch.

I dont think you can entirely write groves off though.MIG wrote:I like Smith but that's a big case of sour grapes.

I do. I don't see anything he has to trouble DeGale.lefty wrote:I dont think you can entirely write groves off though.MIG wrote:I like Smith but that's a big case of sour grapes.

Re: smith talks about the fight
he can dig, but has mimicked degales style along with haye's & gives up too much time, which degale relishes.SweetLikeSugar wrote:I do. Re: smith talks about the fight
He has decent power but I don't see him landing anything worthy on DeGale. I think it would be really one-sided.
Re: smith talks about the fight
I'm not so sure about writing Groves off completely. I've said from early on that I favoured Degale if they fought, but it's being talked about as though it's a foregone conclusion.
Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Groves vs Smith and Degale vs Anderson on a doubleheader before meeting. I'd rather we didn't sacrifice 1 of our 2 hottest prospects in a domestic pleaser if the momentum's all swinging in one guy's favour, i.e. if Groves looked like shite against Smith and Degale shone again vs Anderson.
I mean, what if they fought and Degale did do an actual number on Groves, to the point where it seriously dented his progression. A bad knockout or a serious knock on his confidence.
I'd say at the very least Groves needs to be coming off a convincing performance before making the fight, otherwise I'd rather see how far they can each take it on a european and world level, individually.

Re: smith talks about the fight
I like Groves, and detest DeGale, but the latter would smash the former up. Fact, peeps.
Re: smith talks about the fight
Shame Smigga has given him so little credit. Awkward was about the best compliment he could give Degale. Fact is he controlled the fight and didn't really even look to get out of 2nd gear. Really really impressive showing and much more to come from Chunky I'm sure. Exciting times for British boxing!!
Re: smith talks about the fight
I agree. First overhand right that lands, Groves will be in trouble.Dioufy wrote:I like Groves, and detest DeGale, but the latter would smash the former up. Fact, peeps.
Re: smith talks about the fight
I disagree, DeGale is no puncher. IMO, he'll break Groves down with steady shots like the Smith fight and stop him about the tenth. DeGale is quality but I bet he stops no decent fighter early incluidng the Ginger.jBacca wrote:I agree. Re: smith talks about the fight
degale has lapses were he switches of & smith caught him out but never capatilised the divy :!:
also did you see degale had thrown over 200 punches more then smith
pretty impressive

Re: smith talks about the fight
I don't think it takes a puncher to wobble Groves (his last two fights), and when that happens Degale will pounce.Dioufy wrote:I disagree, DeGale is no puncher. Re: smith talks about the fight
anderson was a known puncher at 81kg in the ams with his left hook.
Re: smith talks about the fight
I think Degale has a bigger dig though.hurlock wrote:anderson was a known puncher at 81kg in the ams with his left hook.
Re: smith talks about the fight
I guess you're right, but as a Groves fan I would like to think he has learnt from the Anderson fight. But I have little confidence.jBacca wrote:I don't think it takes a puncher to wobble Groves (his last two fights), and when that happens Degale will pounce.Dioufy wrote:I disagree, DeGale is no puncher.
