boxing record additions

Post by unclejack »

1. I have been researching my great uncle's boxing records. He is Jack Weday and boxed from 1897 to 1904, 05 or 06. You have a record of him but only show 3 bouts. What do I need to do to have the matches that I have found in newspapers added ?? Mostly I only have who he fought and whether he won, lost or drew.

2. I referred to Uncle Jack's record on this website quite a few months ago and it only showed 2 fights. Today it shows 3. Also, I was surprised at the entry for Jack Lalor. I thought my uncle Jack Weday retired in 1904. Anyway, where did the new entry come from ??

Can you please advise ?? Thanks, martin

The Jack Lalor bout in your uncles record was entered by a top notch New Zealand historian.

Wow ! I struck gold in finding you.

1. I checked out newspaperarchive.com and searched jack weday too. It returned 40 pages available. It is membership based, so I gather it is worthwhile to join at least for a month to see those articles. I couldn't see which papers the pages were from, but since you indicated Hawaii and Oakland, I think it is probably my uncle jack.

2. I would like to communicate with Jack Lalor. Could you share his email address with me ??

3. Do you know how I can go about icluding my findings of Jack Weday's bouts in BoxRec ??

Thanks so much. martin

Barry, I just realized my error. I don't want to communicate with Jack Lalor, of course, I hope to communicate with the New Zealand historian.
He must have come across an article in the paper or such and I would love to read it.
thanks, martin

If you like, I can save the articles for your uncle from newspapersarchive.com and e-mail them to you. They will be in PDF format. I only searched for the years 1897 thru 1910 which came back with nine, but they were all about your uncle and either upcoming bouts, or reports of his bouts. Send me a PM with your e-mail.
