Considering how unimpressed I've been with the hitman's preparations so far, they were probably cagey southpaws.knockout wrote:but what are there styles??Kevin wrote:One of the argies is 14-0 the other is 19-2, he lost to Ricardo Silva who Ted Bami beat in his last fight

I think Kostya also brought in Kendall Holt (the guy who did that highlight reel KO on ESPN a while back), and KO'd him with a bodyshot after generally beating shit out him. Holt, unsurprisingly, jumped on the plane home early. This is where Estrada was brought in.
KT, thus far, has sparred with Sam Soliman, Rocky Katsidis, Emanuel Augustus and Kendall Holt.

Guillermo Saputo, a two-time olympian, is a very mobile and fast welter/light middle.knockout wrote:but what are there styles??Kevin wrote:One of the argies is 14-0 the other is 19-2, he lost to Ricardo Silva who Ted Bami beat in his last fight

Victor Hugo Castro, a former Pan Am Games champion and Sydney Olympian, is a coming forward type of boxer with a very tight defence.

I guess I dont see any similarities between Augustus and Hatton, so I'm a little confused as to why they would use him to get ready for this fight.
Augustus is a totally different kind of fighter than Hatton.
Do any of you think differently?
Is Augustus a proper sparring partner to get ready for a Hatton type?
Or Are they going with the "We dont know what kind of Ricky Hatton is going to come out swinging, so we sparred every kind of fighter possible to get ready..."?

To be honest I'm not sure a guy like Tszyu needs to have carbon-copies of his opponents available to him as sparring partners. The guy has reigned for 10 years in his division and will know a thing or two about most of the styles that he could come up against. He could be concentrating more on what he will be doing than what Hatton might bring.

I think Emanuel Augustus style is very simlar to Hatton in the sense that he stands right in front of your throwing multiple combinations. Hatton is a bigger puncher but work rate and style wise, Hatton and Augustus are similar. I think Augustus is a perfect sparring partner for some one preparing for Hatton.
I love the Emanuel Augustus-Micky Ward fight. That was a war!

Great points, I would have to agree with that assessment.Chopping Right wrote:To be honest I'm not sure a guy like Tszyu needs to have carbon-copies of his opponents available to him as sparring partners. I think that has more to do with getting Amir used to top level gyms and preperation. Warren is grooming him as Hatton's replacement.DA_SERGEANT_WRIGHT wrote:HATTON ALSO DID A COUPLE ROUNDS WITH OLYMPIC SILVER MEDALIST AND MARIO KINDELIN DEFEATER AMIR KHAN DUNNO WHY BUT HE DID AMIR WAS WELL HAPPY HE GOT TO TAKE A LITTLE PART IN THE PREPARATION
