Roman Greenberg's coverage

Am I the only one who feels the coverage being given to Greenberg at SecondsOut.com is getting out of all proportion with his true position in the scheme of things? I grant you the guy has talent but I haven't seen anything yet that shows me he is the next great heavyweight attraction, his opponents have been average and his results against them not particularly awe-inspiring. All this is continually defended by his youthful age, but he is 23 now and has racked up 18 fights since Nov 2001. Now in the latest write-up, which is not quoted as being part of a press release, for a fight in Vegas next month I read:

"Greenberg holds a victory against Julius Francis (WDEC10, Dec. 10, 2004), who defeated Mike Tyson victor Danny Williams and also has been in the ring against some of the world's best heavyweights including Tyson, Vitali Klitschko, John Ruiz, Zeljko Mavrovic, Oleg Maskaev and Sinan Samil Sam."

Personally I think it's a bit much to string all those names into the report on the back of a points victory over 40 year-old Julius, who was on a 9 fight losing streak going in. Not to mention the fact that Francis was KO'ed by all the name fighters listed.

I like SecondsOut.com, it's one of the best boxing sites out there but there is a danger of losing some journalistic objectivity here.

Secondsout run or used to run the Roman Greenberg website as far as I recall. http://www.romangreenberg.tv

They also run the Danny Williams website it seems.

That's why those two get unlimited coverage on there!!

Roman Greenberg's manager is a gent by the name of Robert Waterman. He is a Jewish businessman who is extremely wealthy and has a lot of minted financial backers too. He has many contacts over in the USA, thus he's able to get Greenburg noticed over there, especially in the big Jewish areas of Florida & New York. He also owns the web company that publishes Seconds Out.Com.
