I'd bet on Bob to beat John and Victor, (reluctantly because I saw Victor fight and was HIGHLY impressed) and like him to beat Sugar Ray due to the size differential.

I don't see him beating Moore or Johnson. I think Spinks has a great chance, not sure I'd bet on that one though.

Spinks, Johnson and Moore beat him. Foster beats the rest although I wouldn't have placed any $ on the Galindez bout.

I agree Spinks, Johnson and Moore beat him. With Foster winning the other fights.

Out of curiosity, why have you included Sugar Ray Robinson?

Kind of a last second wild card name, if you will.

Just wanted to see if anyone could see a Robinson victory.

Sugar Ray Robinson fought Joey Maxim for the Light Heavyweight title if my memory serves me correctly and was ahead on the cards when he collapsed because of the heat in the 14th round. As for Bob Foster, I would say He would be Conteh on points, drop a split to Archie Moore and and grind a late stoppage out of Archie Moore.

The great Bob Foster probably loses to greats Archie Moore, Harold Johnson and Michael Spinks. The other greats? He wins by KO.

I cannot see Galindez, nor Robinson nor Conteh beating Foster.

Did you really mean to say he would Drop a split AND grind a stoppage out of the same guy in the same fight?

I know he gets mentioned with almost supreme deity like status amongst the 'writers' and boxing historians, but lets not short change Ray Robinson.

Great fighter, great heart and could KO anyone. He could drop and stop any of those mentioned but also conversely, could lose to them all too (on points, though).

I think Moore, just had too much savvy for the rest. Here is a guy who not only threw punches in combination, he watched, threw them as leads, altered the speed of the punch to throw the opponent off, was crafty and could bang. Just a little too much for the rest (bearing in mind that in his physical prime he was nowhere near title shot).

Wonderful fighter, we dont see the likes of him nowadays. The boxing enviroment, conditions and purses used to shape these genuinely hard men. Thats why you got Henry Armstrong, Joe Louis, Ray Robinson and Archie Moore, for example then and thats why you dont get fighters like them now.

Just my take and opinion ofc :TU:

Conteh, Galdinez and Robinson would be classics with Foster winning out.

Johnson and Spinks are 50-50 fights.

Archie would win more than he lost.

Foster beats Conteh, Galindez and sparks :OhYes: Spinks. He loses to Moore, has a close fight with Johnson and I am not writing off a prime SRR on his best night even with the size difference. If I had to bet on one fight I'd take Foster, but I'm sure SRR wins at least one in a trilogy.

Where's Ezzard Charles?

Its a toss up between Charles & Moore as to who is the best Light-Heavy of all time!

The coin falls with Gene Tunney's name on it, from where I'm viewing.

Anyway, even if you think those two are the best pair, how could it be a toss-up between Charles & Moore? Charles was plainly Moore's superior at 175.

GI.....Archie was defeated by Ezz on three occasions. Pretty solid empircal evidence to support your statement. However....Archie kept getting better....and Ezz timed out....it's at least possible that an assumption based on those defeats could be flawed. I think everyone would agree that they are closer than the record reveals.

Some people actually rate Frazier higher than Foreman.

Some Rate Holyfield higher than Bowe.

etc.

Tunney was better than either.

Hmmm Charles......

Forgot about him

Although neither Tunney or him are on the list, I think its fair to say they are pretty fine choices and imo would beat Foster handily.

Although you could throw in there Tommy Loughran and Billy Conn, too, imo.

I think Tunney and Ezz are often left out of the LH discussion because they transcended the division. They get classified as Heavies for the most part. Braddock as well.
