Re: wonder who will be greens next victim ?
The only person I can see Green coming down to 175lb for is Mundine, and even that is now a stretch. As previously mentioned, Green fought at LHW (which in the amateurs is 81kg - 178lb) in 2000, and stated that he had to lose on average 6kg to make the LHW limit as a pro - and this was in 2007.
Yes, Green is a little small for a cruiserweight, but he was big enough to handle Flores (who as we know, had the option of weighing 200lb and looked clearly the bigger man on the night). He probably could still make LHW, but I feel at 37/38yo it would weaken him and reduce his chances of beating big names at that weight. I'd love to see Green vs any of the big belt holders at Cruiserweight.

We all know that Danny's IBO Cruiserweight title is a bit of a joke as his five fights for the title have all been made at catchweights less than 200lbs. I understand Flores had the choice of coming in at 200lbs but decided to take the cash on offer to come in at a lesser weight, it seemed strange he was willing to give away this advantage and thus lessen his chances, I am obviously not aware how much he was paid to come in under the limit.
I just feel that if you look at both the Cruiserweight and LHW divisions, there are so many more interesting fights for Danny at LHW. Now maybe he doesn't want to fight at 175lbs any more given that he came in at 195 for Flores, but if the money and opponent were right then I expect he would.

See i see the same thing about the LT Heavy, it's just a bunch of really ol bastards, and fighters that will be measured by beating ol bastards.
It's all a matter of opinion, i think the Cruiser Division is were he'll be remembered, it's a very decent division with world attention(Many good fighters, on many different continents), it's not all american and eastern European fighters.
There's actually a champion for the WBC,WBA,IBF,WBOollox and IBOllox, but you can't deny that the blokes who hold the last 2 deserve to be considered in the top5 Cruisers out there, so i've learn't to go quite on the matter, it's a means to an end, the media can put it's spin however it likes, but we know don't we!
I Just hope he capitalizes on his win, and there is a unification with the majority if not all of his last fights.
Theres not many left, and he knows that, he still has his faculty's about him, he still has a chance to do great things that i think he was robbed of 7 or 8 years a go.

belta53 wrote:If you saw the vision of the weigh in you would have noticed that even though he came in at nearly 5lbs under the 200lb limit, Flores chose to strip off completely, the reason for this was obviously that he was trying to get under a certain pre-agreed weight and thus triggering financial incentives.

I think an incentive to lose a couple of pounds was already on the cards for BJ, his own words actually, but the incentive was put to him, certainly not forced upon him.

That did not stop Hopkins fighting Jones, nor all those people turning up to watch it.bollox wrote:Danny cleaned up a shot Roy Jones. As for being a wasteland it was introduced because heavyweights were getting huge and it was decided to have a division for men too heavy for light heavyweight but too small for heavyweight. None of the light heavyweights want to know about Green after he cleaned Jones up in a round.
Do you think Flores should have been allowed to come in over the limit? The only wasteland here is between your ears.
Re: wonder who will be greens next victim ?
How about Wlodarczyk, the WBC Champion?
Re: wonder who will be greens next victim ?

With Hopkins fighting for the IBO Lt Heavy title tomorrow, does anyone think the door is open again for a Green v Hopkins IBO cruiser fight ??

Re: wonder who will be greens next victim ?
Belta53 you said the difference between LH and Cruiserweight is 175 and 195 10 lbs about 4.5 Kg Thats a lot of weight from a trim taught and terific fighter like Danny Green to loose just to fight at LHW. Belta53 for you to loose 4.5 Kgs of ugly fat the only way is for you to cut of your head. Seems to me you have never been to a weigh in.
Re: wonder who will be greens next victim ?
And who did Cloud defend his IBF Light Heavyweight title against the other night?
Fulgencio Zuniga, Boxrec ranking 56.

That finished up a majority draw. The only judge not to give it a draw gave it to Pascal by two points.amwsnw wrote:With Hopkins fighting for the IBO Lt Heavy title tomorrow, does anyone think the door is open again for a Green v Hopkins IBO cruiser fight ??

I thought the only judge not to give a draw gave it to Bhop !!!

i would like to see that fight probably as much as any of the cruiserweight fights going
Re: wonder who will be greens next victim ?
Hopkins had a 12 round waltz with Jones after Green stopped Jones in the first round. Hopkins has not scored a KO win since 2004 at middleweight against De La Hoya. This makes him a threat?

not in the sense he might ko green. i dont think he could hurt green if he had a baseball bat, but i think he may be able to out smart green and frustrate him maybe getting a points win.
i would favour green but you just dont know with hopkins i mean to even score a draw was a pretty dam good effort, not saying that pascal is a great but looked in good shape .
Re: wonder who will be greens next victim ?
Bhop will no doubt move back into most of the p4p rankings and after last Sundays effort. I didnt say Bhop would knock Green out but its a great name who just showed he is not past his prime. He has the smarts to give anybody problems when he puts his mind to it. Still think Danny would win but would love to see it.
Re: wonder who will be greens next victim ?
b-hop would never do it.
he mouthed off too much before. it would embarrass him too much if he were to lose.

Mate this isn't happening,Krzysztof Wlodarczyk is scheduled to fight an undefeated puerto rican in April.
I was really hoping Green could secure this fight, a very winnable fight, and the Polakwould have been outbided and forced to come here.
I really am convinced it's Cameron next, oh well let Greeny get it out of the road, but please let it be really early next year, Mid Febuary the latest, I'm pumped to see what he's going to achieve next year.
By process of Elimination heres some fighters that will not be fighting Green in the first Quarter.
Cunningham set to fight Enad Licina
Huck just fought Lebedev ,and I assume Huck will have a couple of soft options before heading into deep water again.
Yoan Pablo Hernandez just won the WBA eliminater to fight Gulermo Jones. Hardly likely that he'll risk his title shot.
Krzysztof Wlodarczyk as stated above.
Alexander Frenkel is scheduled to fight for the European title in Germany mid Febuary, Danny isn't from Europe.
2 fighters that i rate that are not scheduled for a fight is Gulermo Jones, but by the sounds of it already has an option, and Ola Afolabi, I've seen both fight and can fight well, and would be a great fight for Greeny.

Re: wonder who will be greens next victim ?
i wouldnt mind seeing any off those fights . im even starting to warm to the idea off cameron
only because you'd think it gives green a chance to stack on some more weight before a proper cruiserweight test. plus there's nothing wrong with Aussies embarrassing kiwis

Ross has a date, just no opponent.
Ross is the 1 cruiser that i think really, really troubles Danny, i need to see more of Ross, and more of Danny at the new weight to be sure, but while the fight lasts i'm sure it would be entertaining.
I think the Cameron fight is a sure bet. And i suppose it is a cautious move.
