I have a feeling Anthony does not like the idea of fighting somebody who has already beaten him, let alone knocked him out. His confidence would be down.
I remember something Ernie McQuillan said about Choc's father. "Tony did not have a glass jaw. He just did not like getting up again after he got knocked down."
Many fighters develop a mental block about somebody who beats them.

I think Ray Mitchell had the same theory. He always maintained Tony's problems with KOs were more mental than physical.

ray was a respected boxing historian and referee, but tony was ko,d by some noted punchers, there ko records speak for themselves,4 as a middleweight and 6 as a lhvy and cruiser,he was caught cold a few times,i also saw him climb off the deck after being dropped, against a puncher you cant make mistakes, tony did and was hit by a phantom punch,a mental block? all the best

Hi guys, Back again!!! Been away because some dickhead pissed unlicensed uninsured driver had a head on crash with me and I have just got out of hospital... He did a lot of damage!!!

I heard about this fight and was shocked, I did'nt believe it until I read the paper. Choc is unfortunately gone, Boxa promotions are screwed because they have only concentrated on Mundine and not headlined any other talent coming through.

Thankfully, Mundine and Boxa are on their way out and Aussie boxing can live in dignity again. Cheers for that!!!

Ray Mitchell was also a referee who did not like infighters, but that is another story. I was quoting what Tony's trainer Ern McQuillan told Aboriginal journalist Stan Grant.

On a side note, has anyone seen a more aggressive boxer than Wood? Wondering how far a style like that will get him, especially with a large, full sized ring. Mundine didn't seem to be able to move around all that much did he? Just goes to show that even small factors like the size of the ring could have a large impact on the outcome of a fight, and even a person's career.

Don't want to call him dirty, but Wood, geez. It's almost MMA/UFC pressed up against the cage stuff. Anyone agree?

Is Mundine world class? Anyone wish to answer before and after his loss to Wod? Honest question. No bias.

I dont want to defend him, but he could be world class if he grew a pair, his best performance by far was against Kessler.

Welcome to boxrec by the way. :TU:

brute , you should know trainers don,t like to admit their own failings, ray was around when our fighters were taught to slip punches and counter, there are a few boys fighting now that are showing promise, green is not a boxer, a boy from over in the west i saw , i think his first name was waylon?is a very good mover.ray may have leaned towards boxers but i haven,t heard anything detrimental about his rulings, can you throw a bit more light on the subject?all the best
