Take the featherweight season for example.

There weren't one dominant fighter in the pool, but there was the early surprise package in Marquez who you could argue stepped up to the plate, but he was beatable.

With no dominant fighter, you had Marquez, Arguello, Saldivar, Pep, Sanchez, and then the likes of Pacquaio, Griffo and Lewis all in contention for title shots.

But it would be a shame if we were to have, lets say; a Heavyweight season Without the likes of Ali or Louis, because aren't they part of the draw and the appeal?

I'd tend to agree with you, but I know after 15 weeks they'd be dominating things and the season would start to be going stale.

It'd be annoying seeing Louis and Ali getting the mandatory shots every time they're due.

If they weren't there, the playing field is a lot more even. Isn't that the best way to keep things interesting?

I'm not sure mate... Not really convinced, but we'll see what happens.
If this is decided to be the best way, then I'll roll with it and see how it goes. :TU:

Crease....the fighters who are greyed out can be called upon for a hail mary moment. There is a precedent for this They can be drafted to fight, and serve a purpose. We were the first team to manage two unified champions in the same season with Wills and Bowe. Bowe made his name on holding the WBU for 16 undefeated weeks, then defeating Ali, and making his move toward alphabet unification, which he achieved.

It's all there to be read in the erased database of BRS.

Maxie Rosenbloom.....did quite nicely and would have been elected to the HOF if there was a fair and informed electorate.

Also No one else could have guided Paul Williams to greatness......he has been top 10 in the commish list for the entire season.

A few ideas:

No top 10 drafted fighter can be picked up without a tourney for him.

If you pick up a fighter who was drafted in the first round, you must drop your fighter that was drafted in the first round. If you pick up a guy drafted in the second round, you must drop your second round pick. If a fighter was never drafted, it is your choice.

If two managers want the same fighter (Outside of top 10 drafted), have them fight their droppable sim fighters the next week for the fighter. First come, first serve to let the commish know you want to pick up the fighter.

Before two champs can fight each other, you must defend your belt/s twice. This will make unifying the belts a little harder, making it more meaningful. It will give more people a chance to get the belts too.

A commish choice week on every 10th week, 10, 20, 30 and 40. He will get the big fights made that people are scared to make.

Let all the fighters available be draft able. Not many fighters in the sim (I'd think) are unbeatable.

When two managers make a term for the fight, say a rematch, it must be honored. Failure to do so results in suspension.

If a manager doesn't line up his fighters for two sim weeks, after that they go in the pool. That is about one week, give or take.

These are pretty easy rules that I think will make things move a little faster and fairer. I like the idea of drafting a historic fighter and a current fighter as wel that JDC mentionedl. In that way, whoever drafted first will be able to get one of the best current/historic fighters, while the last person to draft might not get a good fighter in one category, but will get a top fighter in another. It let's everyone have more of a level playing field as far as the draft.

Aside from these ideas, just man up and find your fu@king balls and make the best fights............

JDC wrote:How about each manager having 1 modern fighter and 1 historic fighter. 1st round draft picks would be for a modern fighter and 2nd round picks for a historic fighter. Draft order would be more balanced like this.
I think that this idea for the draft does have some mileage in it, but I can't see it working in the long-term and I wouldn't want it included.

A simply brillant idea. It kind of makes it like the Lonsdale belt, 2 defeces then you can get it. :TU:

That is exactly my point. Even the likes fo Robinson, Ali and Louis would lose fights. :TU:
