This Letter Came out USA BOXING:
December 20, 2010
Dear USA Boxing Membership-
USA Boxing received word from AIBA that we will be unable to hold the 2011 USA Boxing National Championships, March 20-27, 2011, due to a conflict with the World Series of Boxing schedule, as the new Board of Directors was not aware of AIBA’s request.
We are currently looking at alternative dates and location to hold the event upon the completion of the WSB season on May 28. The current month being considered for the event is June, but no concrete plans have been confirmed at this time...
My question to all is should USA BOXING be moving 2011 USA Boxing National Championships
to accommodate AIBA?
Last I new USA = United State of America / NOT AIBA /

Re: 2011 USA Boxing National Championships,
I agree. USAB should hold its national tournament when it is most convenient for the USA not AIBA.
Re: 2011 USA Boxing National Championships,
The conflict is not something that was recently discovered. Now there will be other conflicts that could have been avoided with a little foresight 6 months ago.

Re: 2011 USA Boxing National Championships NEWS LETTER
The Asian games did not change their dates despite clashing with the first round of the WSB-this seems to set a precedent and doesnt reflect well on the AIBA.
Re: 2011 USA Boxing National Championships NEWS LETTER
Canadian National just happened. Cuba, Czech Republic & Slovakia too. They didn't change their dates but I don't think they have WSB boxers. Hungary held their Nationals during the WSB season and Imre Szello found a way to go to it even though he is a WSB boxer. The same thing holds true for the German Nationals held in December where Ronnie Beblik found a way to compete while Koelling did not. Italy held their Nationals in December, but it doesn't look like the Italian WSB boxers competed in the tourney. Dominican Republic held its Nationals in November in conflict with week 1 of the WSB schedule. Luis Miguel Diaz managed to compete in spite of being on the WSB's Miami team. However, it doesn't look like Navarro was able to compete in the Nationals or chose not to do so. My guess is that we will see many other countries have national tournaments in the next 3 months and many WSB boxers will not compete in their countries' national tournaments.
It really seems like the USA is the only national federation changing things for the WSB.

Re: 2011 USA Boxing National Championships NEWS LETTER
There really wasn't a conflict since the last week of WSB competition during the regular season for the Americas Conference was going to be finished on March 17 and 18, 2011. Therefore all USA boxers competing in the WSB would be available to compete in the USA Boxing National Championships starting on March 20 (registration day) and the first day of competition on March 21, 2011. The WSB playoffs don't start until April. It could have worked.
Re: 2011 USA Boxing National Championships NEWS LETTER
Here it is January 2011 and the only confirmed dates for qualifiers for the Olympic Trials come from the Group Members, Golden Gloves Association of America and the United States Armed Forces. The National PAL was already held. USAB changed the dates for their National Championships and hasn't announced specific dates for other tournaments yet. Olympic Trials qualifiers should be set by now along with the dates for the Trials themselves.
