That 152 bout between James and Fiorentino was real exciting...I think they could meet in the Finals in the Gloves...or at least one of them make it....

141 and 152 should be the weights to watch this year...

Marcus Browne will most likely win his 3rd pair of Golden Gloves as well...can't see anyone at 178 beating him...

My man Herve Duroseau is taking 165! :OhYes:

I heard that Suarez was turning pro...can't confirm it but he didn't fight in the PALS as far as I know and deff not the Metros...

Frankie Garriga was just too much for Nate Green, gave him a few standing 8's...don't know too many names at 123...Trevis Hall won the Novice 123 a few yrs back...heard Wilfredo Morales is good but never seen him fight

Anyone gonna make an Official Thread like last years for the GG's???

Marcos Suarez didn't go pro, he was apparently injured...he'll be in the Gloves, 132 Open...that weightclass just got more interesting...

He has an article in the NY Daily News.

Was it truly a walkover at 201 for Joseph Williams or was he uncontested. Normally for a walkover they list the guy who lost via walkover.

I'm not a trainer, I box at the Freeport PAL...thought about doing the Gloves but I don't wanna jump right in without having any fights(although I'm 114 Novice). We have 7-10 fighters in the Gloves...

Sorry, what's the difference?

There was no opponent there...never saw the 201 bracket...they awarded Joseph Williams the belt in the ring in between one of the bouts

Any of you all see Mikkel fight that Occonor kid (141 Open). I was surprised to hear he lost, I fought him in Lake Placid a few years back and hes a pretty sharp fighter.

Not a lot of difference between being uncontested and winning via walkover. However, if it is in the finals, a walkover might mean the boxer had to win other bouts to get to the finals while uncontested clearly means nobody wanted to compete against the boxer. Sometimes a walkover is due to an injury/medical DQ or a boxer not making weight. Sometimes it is a situation where the boxer gets cold feet and backs out.

Pretty sure Joseph Williams had to fight at least one person in the tournament...not sure what happened with the finals...

Didn't see that fight but no way did Mikkel Lespierre beat William Whitt. Whitt outworked him the entire fight but lost a point for spitting out his mouthpiece twice. Add the fact the fight was at Lespierre's gym(Gleason's)...idk how the judges thought Mikkel won...

Bryant O'Connor did well against Patrick Day early on(thought he won the 1st) but idk bout his conditioning, you could tell he was winded in the 3rd round...
