I thought they sparred all the time?

Interesting move by Warren because Brook isn't a name and fights up at Welterweight, he knows Khan is coming to fight back in Britain in his next fight and has mentioned moving to 147 (I think that's a few fights away) so offers him serious money to fight Brook. Brook is talented but Khan is more experienced and would be expected to win but that fight would do more for Brook even in defeat than any of his wins to date. He'd become much more of a name win/lose or draw and the experience would do him the world of good. I'd be interested in this fight. I bet the pre fight comments to each other would be class!

Once again, Khan does himself NO favours! If he does not take the fight, then don't evne comment on it. Its academic if the fight does not happen.
Khan arrogance may actually be getting worse. Khan think's he's Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather, but the truth is, he's not on their level & may never reach that level. I'll say right now, I don't see him ever being as good as Pacman or Floyd!

spot on - we're talking the 2 definite legends of our time here - but Khan is definitely heading for the Premier League at the moment whether he becomes a legend or not. A fight with the winner of Bradley/Alexander could be career defining. Brook is thousands of miles away from this sort of fight.
Re: Amir tweets that bashed Brook in sparring ...
I'm not khans biggest fan but can't deny being impressed like many others with his improvement under Freddie roach.
Khan is ahead of Brook career wise and will no doubt know that brook is capable of giving him a decent fight. I still think khan would beat brook convincingly but in a couple of years depending how brooks career progresses this could be a big fight. It could potentially become the similar version of the Khan-hatton fight we never got.
If khan remains as big and kell gets bigger then this could be a huge fight at some point.
But at the moment why would khan take the risk??

Re: Amir tweets that bashed Brook in sparring ...
kell brook is the best talant in britain at walterweight by far' the ease he won the longsdale belt outright' the ease he has breezed into wbo no1' philip kotey was a joke for a man going on to the world stage' but then he can only fight whot is put in front of him. mike jones pulled out' Not his fault' his promotion team could have done better' i for 1 think khan v kell would be a great british showdown and a real fight'
khan never fought thaxton at the time and dodged britain compleatley' he is world champ but not the champ in britain.
get it onnnnnnnnnn.

Re: Amir tweets that bashed Brook in sparring ...
Kell Brook is the real deal IMHO, he'll be raved on when he's world champion, it's a testament to how good he is that he hasn't had to get outta first gear!!
Re: Amir tweets that bashed Brook in sparring ...
No offence but I'm sure most decent welters wouldn't have had to get out of first gear either against the opponents Brook has been in with.
Hardly murderer's row, is it?
In fact I'd say that the lack of decent punchers always holds back British fighters when they make a title bid, unless of course it's for a vacant one vs some clown.

I'm not normally so cut and dried on things but I'm certain that if Jennings hadn't have been cut, he'd have been smashed up. As soon as the heat was turned up, he was in bother. And I have a lot of time for Jennings. I can't see how a rematch would help either of them.Captain Hook wrote:Agreed.
Some seem to have suggested Brook was doing a number on Jennings but I didn't see it that way at all.
If anything Jennings was gaining momentum when it was stopped and Brook was lacklustre.
Jennings was completely disregarded by many on here, who seem to think what Brook did to him was similar to what Cotto did.
I'd like to see a rematch, Jennings deserves it.
The thing is, Team Brook can't really say anything much until he gets in there with a genuine top ten fighter. To blame Brook for this not happening is a bit naive though.
Re: Amir tweets that bashed Brook in sparring ...
Another thing...what Al would say if he had Khan and someone else had Brook touting this? I suspect Brook would be way down Al's list of prospective opponents for Khan for all sorts of reasons, one of them being it would be a risk for very little reward, career wise.

yes, yes, and yes. hookie i think i've directed this at you before so apologies for being repetitive, but i think you simply got this one wrong. Jennings wanted none of Brook once he had taken even the minimal shots he took, IMO you could see it in his eyes- they went wide as dinner plates- he wasn't going to be standing and planting his feet all night just trying to survive.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:

You're both basing this on what you think would have happened and not what did happen.
Saying Jennings wanted no part of Brook is your opinion, not fact.
He's been in with some tough guys and up until Brook had two losses on his record, a disputed decision dropped to Muttley and a beating at the hands of Cotto. He's no mug.
Brook hasn't proved himself, despite the hype. I'm not saying it's his fault, but it's Brook's team calling out Khan, not the other way around. They want the publicity.
Khan is proving himself in the ring, Brook has done well against average opposition. If he steps up and does the business I'll give him props.

If this fight ever happens it will be way down the line, Brook needs to clean up in Europe or go over to the States, which he won't with Al. Let's see what happens.
Good luck to the guy, he has a lot of talent. Not a big fan of his, but I can respect his ability.
Re: Amir tweets that bashed Brook in sparring ...
are you naive or something? i dont see anything particularly offensive in khans tweet. most top to mid level british fighters at their respective weights have sparred other fighters at their weight in their country.and when one wants or doesnt want to fight the other down the line in a paid for promted pro fight they usually bring up sparring of the past.. thats a common thing. many of the pro fights we want to see have taken place already in sparring contests in closed gyms with headgear and controlled aggression.danfoster wrote:hang on a minute - remind me who Amir beat before (and after) he got the belt? He's looking forward at Bradley and co, not over his shoulder at Brook, who hasn't even made a dent on the world scene, let alone justified a title shot.
Amir has one truly impressive win on his record (Maidana) and even then he had an absolute war with a somewhat leaden footed slugger who he should have easily outboxed. I think Amir is massively over-rated but that is my personal opinion.
i try to like amir but the stupid, disrespectful crap he comes out with on Twitter (especially re Froch and Macracken) always reminds me that he is arrogant, disrespectful and believes his own hype and that generated by those on his own payroll.
anyway, kell has a very different recollection of how events unfurled when they sparred and i expect he'll be having to something to say about this in due course.
i think your just on here with your "new account" to bash khan and stir khan hate again. but dont make out if khan doesnt fight every one who calls him out for a big payday, he is "scared of them", his beating of maidana should have shamed u into silence.
brook is good but why should amir give him a payday right now? khan is about to fight the winner of bradley-alexander. if brook wants to join the party he needs to do so on his own terms.

Can you give me one reason why khan ,brook or any boxer should do a public sparring session on a first to kayo wins basis for nothing? You clearly know nothing about boxing. Sparring sessions arent always meant to be concluded with kayoes. They are for working on stuff and why would two proffesionals fight in public for nothing for your benefit? Behave yourself

^^^^ I agree
I don't give much credence to sparring session reports. You can have a large group of people who were supposedly there say one thing, while another group will tell you the exact opposite. Maybe Khan was getting the better of Pacquiao at times and out boxing him, but I don't believe for one second that he was giving him a beating--not a chance. It has also been rumored that Pacquiao dropped or knocked out Khan in sparring, so these rumors are all over the place, and the recollections are very different. If Roach is letting his guys get beat up and knocked out in sparring, he needs to have more control over them.

Re: Amir tweets that bashed Brook in sparring ...
Freddie Roach said that all of the Khan-Pacquiao sparring sessions have been competitive. He also said that when they first sparred, Khan got the better of it until Pacquiao got used to Khan's hand-speed. I'm inclined to believe that over any rumours.
