saw this in WHSmiths today, it was 7.99. I'm sure the first one was a tenner, maybe they pitched it too high.
I must say the reason I bought the first one was the Linford Christie interview which swung it, which I really enjoyed. (Christie says he can outsprint and Premier League footballer even though he's 50.....who's to argue?)
Anyway this second one I notice has Jessica Ennis, Usain Bolt, Joe Calzaghe pulling all manner of faces and some, to me, run of the mill, generic Ricky Gervais piece.
I have to say at 7.99 it's probably great value and I think it's a great business venture by Haye, but, as with the first there seems to be a hell of a lot of self-adulation, posing and sh*t in there by Haye himself which is the only down side for me.
I'll probably end up buying it even though I avoided it today. Anyone else got it/ getting it etc....
Hayemaker "Bookazine" Volume 2.

To be honest it's not a bad read and £7.99, although it's still pricey for a magazine, it's not that much for quite a quality product. It's in the motor at the moment (Been reading it on a night shift) and I can't be arsed to go to get it to check, but I'm pretty sure it's not loaded down with adverts like other comparable magazines. Also, where else can you read decent interviews with Usain Bolt, David Haye and Joe Calzaghe in one magazine? Even though I'm quite bored of Ricky Gervais, it's still not a bad interview with him. Plus the other features are alright as well: the basketball dude who fancies his chances as a boxer. It's better than crap like FHM or Loaded (which was a great magazine when it first came out but is awful now: there's an interview with Haye in it this month where they talk about his "WBO Heavyweight belt"- do some BASIC research for f*cks sake- so don't get suckered into buying it like me).
I left it out at work while I took a couple of hours kip and this African dude who I was working with leafed through it and when I came back he was asking me if it was a common magazine because he thought it was good and had never seen it before. That's a geezer who knows eff all about boxing, just thought it was a good read.

Whatever you think of the product, this is not the case, trust me.NorthEastBoxingFan wrote:I think it's a great business venture by Haye....

what do u mean? It's not a business venture or it's not making a profit? That wouldn't surprise me to be fair, this is boxing after all. He's doing a lot of networking thru it by the sounds of it which will probably boost his profile and therefore money.Deserter wrote:Whatever you think of the product, this is not the case, trust me.NorthEastBoxingFan wrote:I think it's a great business venture by Haye....

Yep, I see what you're saying. It certainly won't be profitable in its own right and your position is that could be offset by the intangible value of using it as a marketing tool. However, I think it's a fail on that level as well as he's not reaching a new audience through it by and large. In simple terms, that money could have been invested in other marketing that would have been more effective in my opinion - it's primarily a vanity project.NorthEastBoxingFan wrote:what do u mean?
