how big is your boxing collection?

Post by n1ebf »

by collection I mean owt related to boxing. I am thinking of chucking out a load of old Boxing News's and boxing books because they take up a lot of space, but before I do I intend to actually count the whole lot. I would estimate I own around 3 or 400 magazines and up to 50 books with a few DVDs and Videos chucked in, and I haven't even got round to Johnny Nelson's book or Teddy Atlas's yet. If you own any titles etc feel free to include them

A few dozen books, 100's of mags, some DVD's, about 70GB of AVI's, some great old posters, half dozen or so framed pics.

Boxing has been one of the most enjoyable things in my life for 30+ years so would never chuck them, have slowly kind of created a boxing theme in the house without it being overbearing and am thinking of dedicating a section of one of the spare rooms solely to boxing.

Don't chuck your books out, I'd gladly take them off your hands (the ones I haven't got) and donate some money to charity.

My collection is huge.

I've got hundreds of DVDs, & VHS tapes.

I've got Boxing Monthly magazines going back to 1989; I've got all Ring Magazines from about 1986 - 1994ish; Boxing Illustrated magazines from about the same era & books galore.

I'm well out of space, but I'm not chucking any of them.

Too much. 100s of books, 1000s of mags, probably close to over a 1000 DVDs, over 600 VHS tapes full of boxing, 50 autographs.

I must say when I get BN I hardly ever read the write up to a fight that I have just witnessed a week before cos it's boring. I like the 60 sec interview, Previews, action I've not seen etc as well as the "whispers" section. I generally find the editor's letter a bit bland and predictable so don't bother with that usually.
What I do enjoy tho, lately is reading thru the "Old Timers" section. Suddenly the age of the mag....a week, a year, 2 years is irrelevant. I didn't used to bother with that section very much so I'd like to save them just to read more of that. I might have to move tho soon and I couldn't take them with.

does anybody order DVD's from the adverts in the back of boxing mags such as BM?.....I want a few fights I didn't see such as ODH-Mayorga, RJJ-Ruiz, Ward vs. Judah, Hopkins-Johnson etc...and also a few Pernell Whittaker fights. I've never used any before and not sure how else to get them.
PM me if you know a reliable source cos I don't think you're allowed to mention names on here. Thanks.

I've pretty much dedicated my spare room to boxing. Probably a couple of hundred mags, a fair few programmes and then the rest of it is decorated with pictures of me with fighters, classic photo's, photo's of the arena's on the night and ticket stubs

I have a fairly good collection.Too many magazines and books to count, complete years most of them.Autobiographies signed by Amir Khan,Kostya Tyszu,Terry Marsh,Billy Walker,Tony Booth and a Dominic Negus one with a picture of me pissed up cuddling Negus at a show as a bookmark!Signed and dedicated framed photo's of Roberto Duran,Jake La Motta,Buster Douglas,Joe Frazier,Lloyd Honeyghan and Alan Minter.Signed gloves from Ricky Hatton and Henry Cooper. My programmes are my favourites and i have a lot.Loads signed but half the time i have been too drunk to remember.Got Calzaghe and Fwank to sign at Woods-Johnson 3,Emmanual Steward at Calzaghe-Kessler and Jamie Moore and Kerry Kayes at Khan-Presscott.I have all the Tyson programmes post Berbick(Bonecrusher and Douglas signed by them),Tyson charges £100 a signiture and rarely signs but will get the Berbick one done when i can as its quite rare and can only rise in value.Had almost all the Hatton programmes but sold them when he was on the slide for good money when i noticed the likes of Bruno,Hamed and Benn programmes were going for 0.99p on Ebay.Hatton too is now going cheap...Still got his debut programme(signed) and the big fights plus all shows i atended.

My house is overflowing with stuff. I have pretty much every boxing news since 1994 (51 a year so it's quite a lot), pretty much every Ring and Boxing Monthly for the past seven years or so and quite a few Boxing Digest copies. Tons of programmes and, I kid you not, about 10,000 fights on dvd.

25 books, the whole "boxers" series on vhs (the marshall cavendish one). 10-15 dvds of fights including the fabulous 4. And various documentaries taped on vhs. I am actually going to make a big effort to expand on the collection.
