Would it have been deep fine leg? Deep backward square? These positions are often used with fast bowlers for the nick from a bouncer.bollox wrote:![]()

He's a kiwi and they are a very bad cricket team.sg1985 wrote:Backs to the wall your a very good side. It'll be tough. khawajas having a good debut. gutsy batter.
Re: OT: Ashes and the Aussies
Im not sure, But it seems to me that 90% of the guys that get picked for Australia play for NSW. Every time there is a new guy coming in. Its from there.Rogue wrote:Has Phil Hughes got a relative who is a selector for Oz?
There are plenty of good young batsmen aroud the country, yet Hughes gets picked without any form whatsoever.
Re: OT: Ashes and the Aussies
hmm...nothing personal but he gets out same way...same ugly waft which is not a very good look at test level. oh well...ben k wrote:Im not sure, But it seems to me that 90% of the guys that get picked for Australia play for NSW. Re: OT: Ashes and the Aussies
Phil Hughs is a prodigy. He deserves to be there and should never of been dropped, maybe he shouldn't hang around Mundine, ever since he become part of Mundines ontarouge he fell out of favor with Ponting. He destroyed South Africa, with Twin century's in a match in his 2nd test(check the history books, a Handful of people can claim they've done it) then he went to England got like a 25 & 11 and got dropped for Prince Charming who couldn't bat his way to century even if Pakastan had a 100000 grand on him to do so.
Those who think Hugh's shouldn't be there.....Wellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll.......

Re: OT: Ashes and the Aussies
Thats all good and well, /he probably should have been stuck with back then. But this series he got called up WITH NO FORM. At least pick a guy that is making runs at the Domestic Level. Kawaja looks the goods and will become a good player. There are other guys out there also that are making runs, His name has lost me but the Chubby guy that opens for South Australia, He is a great Batsmen but becuase he likes a Beer they dont give him a go.Hounddawg wrote:Phil Hughs is a prodigy. They told him a few years back to get fitter, I dont see why. Taylor was overweight so was Boon. They were both great batsmen.adamheight wrote:ben k wrote:Thats all good and well, /he probably should have been stuck with back then. But this series he got called up WITH NO FORM. same as botham. in fact he had a pack a day habit to go with it by all accounts. he certainly used his weight to his advantage at the creaseben k wrote:They told him a few years back to get fitter, I dont see why. Re: OT: Ashes and the Aussies
Cosgrove is the fella im thinking of.
Yeh i was going to use Botham as an example.
There is also guys like Pomersbach and Mitchell Marsh from here in WA. Both good Batsmen and young.

Re: OT: Ashes and the Aussies
The new kid Kwadja looks the goods. Good knock and a sound technique. Nice to watch
Re: OT: Ashes and the Aussies
Cosgrove should have been there years ago.
Realistically we have no talent coming through, the guys being talked about are averaging around 36, back inthe day you had to average 80-100 for 10 years to even get a look in...

Re: OT: Ashes and the Aussies
Botham has called Hughes a cheat for trying to claim a bump catch-- British media not surprisingly highlighting it.... anyhow, not long now. Ashes for this year will be over.

Re: OT: Ashes and the Aussies
It was purely politics, maybe Punter didn't like the idea of a 20 year old averaging 55.?? and with 2 100s and a 50 inside his first 5 tests.ben k wrote:Thats all good and well, /he probably should have been stuck with back then. Re: OT: Ashes and the Aussies
clarke is not captain material, watson should be next. ive always liked ponting but i think he and clarke have got to go. bring back the other hussey. and why the fornicate did our selectors drop hauritz he is about 5 times better than these two other guys we have used.
if i had to pick a team it would be as following:
Katich
Hussey
Kawaja(?)
Watson (c)
Hussey
Smith
haddin
johnson
siddle
hilenhaus
hauritz
the selectors are a bit like the NSW origin selectors, changing the team every day and making bad choices wondering why nothing works

well the misery should end soon. some of those dismissals look novice at best. hopefully Oz can "rebuild" very soon
