Re: sky have messed up - big time
Which Haye fight?
Re: sky have messed up - big time
Just read the most recent reports. Don't blame Sky, Khan is fighting while those two have been bickering over the past few months/years. Were they supposed to tell Khan to do one to make way for a fight that one of them may pull out of anyway? They have had how long to plan and didn't know when Sky had dates? Give me a break.
Re: sky have messed up - big time
let haye and klitchko and booth take their bickering and posturing somewhere else. i for one am sick to death of their pretending they want to fight and thinking their shit is worth big bucks. ts time for all of us to move on. this fight will never happen and i think people are fast losing interest. haye seems to have no interest in fighting any live heavyweight and i wish he would stop threatning to retire this year and go ahead and do it ffs.
Re: sky have messed up - big time
Put Khan on normal Sky and Haye on PPV. It's hardly like Khan is facing King Kong anyway. Stupid reason why the biggest fight in the last few years won't happen.
Re: sky have messed up - big time
The world doesn't revolve around David Haye.
Sky have promised a date in April for Khan, and the wheels will already be in motion when it comes to arranging the promotion.
Why doesn't Haye fight on regular TV? He had his payday against Fraudley.
It seems to me that the fight has collapsed because Haye doesn't want Wladimir to have an interim fight before the 2nd July date..... pathetic.
Hopefully he sticks to his word (for once in his life) and vacates our screens for good. The boxing fans and TV networks should focus on boxers that actually box as opposed to talk crap for three years and fight bums in the meantime.
I'm talking about the likes of Froch, Khan, Marquez, Pacquiao..... as opposed to Haye, Mayweather, Judah etc.

Re: sky have messed up - big time
But if the main sticking point is Wlad taking on Chisora then I really don't understand, unless Team Haye think Derek has a viable chance. Nearly ALL people think Wlad beats Chisora easily, including me, including Haye (his own words back that up), so that would mean that Wlad would have 9 weeks to prepare for Haye, arguably his toughest fight in the last few years. Surely that would be an advantage for Haye? Oh well, it looks like it won't happen ever, and I blame them both equally. A part of me even thinks that these two clowns don't even want to fight each other. Shame that.
Boxing is now a sport where the best find excuses not to face the best. I am actually finding the world championship of table football on Eurosport a lot more exciting at the moment. At least the best face the best. It's the norm, not the exception, unlike boxing.

Largely agree with what you say - but not sure why the reference to Judah? If you mean in years gone by when he was IBF LightWelter champion then I would agree somewhat but recently he has fought.LeedsLad wrote:The world doesn't revolve around David Haye.

His last 10 fights have included - Mayweather, Cotto, Clottey, Santa Cruz (former Interim world champion), and last up beat a much hyped undefeated prospect (okay he was lucky with the decision, but he still fought him).
Floyd Mayweather - now no one can dispute he hasn't got the credibility of Pacquiao but look at his last 6 fights.
Challenged Judah for the world title, beat the Lineal Welter champion, beat the #1 Light Middleweight at the time (at 154) and ring legend DLH, beat the #1 140 lber and a former 147 lbs champion, beat the then p4p #2 and current #1 135 lb, and last time up beat a fighter who many saw as the #1 at 147 (certainly more proven at the weight at the time than Pacquiao).
There isn't a "bum" in that pile also..... if it wasn't for Pacquiao setting the trend we would be discussing the stellar opponents Mayweather has been facing.
Now thus far Haye has fought a fighter who was largely seen as a "paper" champion having lost to Chagaev, a guy on the fringes of the top 10 - probably outside it at that stage, and then a fighter probably not inside the top 30... and yet he is trying to claim he is equal to Klitchsko! Its rediculous. I agree on Haye.

Two words 'Golden Boy' are they not the Promoters of both, they could sort it out. Big conflict of interest IMO.

Maybe Haye should have made the fight last year instead of creating a phoney-war with his pal Audrey Harrison.

Judah was a bit of a lazy selection, but I was thinking of smack talkers that rarely back up their words, his was the first name that came to mind.
Re: sky have messed up - big time
Yeah, Haye's fight list has been a joke so far as heavyweight champion.
Especially as there are many who don't think he should be WBA champion anyway. People have mentioned why didn't Joe Calzaghe give Rob Reid a rematch. Hell, why hasn't Haye given Valuev one.

The pro-Haye agenda on this board isn't too bad, on others like ESB it's shocking.
He's got no intention of fighting a Klitschko, and never has had.
He's made his money and ought to stop polluting our screens.

Re: sky have messed up - big time
so david fayke throws a hissy fit because wladimir klitchko wants to stay active and fight someone while princess david umms and aaahs . the one thing the klitchkos cant be accused of, is not staying active. david fayke not content to only fight once or twice a year against old bums now wants to stop the klitchkos fighting as well just cos he may or may not grow some balls and take the fight one day. this is the worst heavyweight division in history. haye wouldnt have even been a top 10 guy in the 90s. big daddy bowe or ray mercer would have wrecked him before he even got near the big boys .
Re: sky have messed up - big time
Haye says he's going to retire this year. Therefore Sky will get 2 shows MAX out of him.
Khan might be having big fights for the next 10 years. Who would you stick with?
Someone above mentioned greed. Well guess what: Sky are a business. They will do what's in their own best interests, and we should expect nothing else. Can't blame them for it.

Nail on the head - Sky have to have an eye on the future. As you say, it's business and Khan has a longer shelf life.greenyox3 wrote:Haye says he's going to retire this year. Therefore Sky will get 2 shows MAX out of him.

Re: sky have messed up - big time
Totally agree with this. I genuinely don't think he's interested. If he was that keen on becoming undisputed champ, he'd fight Vitali. Instead, he's claiming Vitali is committed to fighting Solis. One of the points he makes is that Wladimir could cancel the fight with Chisora, such is the strength of the terms in a Klitschko contract. If this is the case, surely Vitali could do exactly the same with Solis.LeedsLad wrote:The pro-Haye agenda on this board isn't too bad, on others like ESB it's shocking.

Valuev had an option to enforce a rematch. For whatever reason he chose not to.stujones wrote:Yeah, Haye's fight list has been a joke so far as heavyweight champion.

Strange really. As boring as the first fight was, I would have much rather seen Haye-Valuev 2 than Haye-Audley.
Re: sky have messed up - big time
None of the alphabets are going to strip either Haye or one of the Klitschkos for not facing a mandatory.dexter wrote:Totally agree with this. I genuinely don't think he's interested. They are businesses too - it's not in their interests to have one champion at each weight..... the ''avoided'' mando would just get a payday on the undercard for the interim title. Simples.
As we've said, if Haye fancied it the fight would have happened before now. He's just looking for excuses.
ESB has just turned into a pro-Haye shithole, think I might make this place my home from now on.

Re: sky have messed up - big time
I don't blame Sky.
I mean, that's said with a head full of cynicism. If this isn't yet more hyperbole to add to the drama of the build-up on their part. If they're genuinely standing by Khan's date, then that's to be commended.
Why roll over on a young man who's clearly got gusto for the sport, who's given us the fight of the year in his last outing, proving himself inside the ropes instead of yacking shite incessantly without backing it up legitimately. Fair enough, he's been guilty of it in the past but he's there now, he's stepped up to the plate and that should be rewarded with loyalty and support.
This is the final straw for me, this is the point at which I stop giving a sh*t. This sordid debacle has poisoned Haye's career for me. As for the Klitschkos', I've never really enjoyed their careers so this comes as no great knock on my perception of them.
What poetic justice it would be if Chisora, Solis and Chagaev waylay the brothers and Haye. That'd be as fitting an end to this piss-take as I can imagine.

Re: sky have messed up - big time
At the end of the day, Haye needs Wlad more than Wlad needs Haye. If Haye wants the fight then he's going to have to make all the concessions, which I suppose he did. But Wlad has been fucked about by Haye in the past, so Haye shouldn't really moan about it.
I am a Haye fan, but to hear him say that boxing fans should "boycott" the Del-Boy/Wlad fight is hard to take considering Haye's last outing. I would much rather see Derek/Klit then Haye/One Jab. IMO, Haye's brought this mess on himself.
And I think history will remember that.
Polish dude
Barrett
Valuev
Harrison
Ruiz
Chagaev
And someone who isn't a Klit
Not a great heavyweight CV.

If he said then he's making a fool of himself. It's not the fight we want to see but its a damn sight better than Haye-Harrison and I am willing to bet there will be more action than Haye-Valuev.Dioufy wrote: I am a Haye fan, but to hear him say that boxing fans should "boycott" the Del-Boy/Wlad fight is hard to take considering Haye's last outing.
Should we have boycotted all of Haye's fights after Barret because he never fought a Klit?
