It's 10.15am - David Haye - turn on Radio 5 now!
Victoria Derbyshire (intelligent woman, decent broadcaster) is doing a fantastic job in (unintentionally) showing how utterly ridiculous this situation between Haye and Klitschko is.
She just doesn't understand why they can't fight on July 2nd, even if Wlad is fighting on April 30th.
Haye's on until 11 I think.
Listen on catch up if you've missed it. Quite embarrassing for boxing, actually. Load of sh1te.

While I pretty much agree, Wlad might not have his belts and it would be arrogant to presume otherwise. Presumably also Haye may needs a fight before July and so he may not keep his.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:She just doesn't understand why they can't fight on July 2nd, even if Wlad is fighting on April 30th.
There's more to this than we are hearing I'm sure, and I'm not sure the value of analysing these scenarios with half the facts.
Re: It's 10.15am - David Haye - turn on Radio 5 now!
Oh, understand the arrogance point. But it could be arranged, no? If it goes tits up, so be it. Haye doesn't need a fight before then and has said so.Scottrf wrote:While I pretty much agree, Wlad might not have his belts and it would be arrogant to presume otherwise. What he's saying is that if Wlad fights Chisora on April 30, the WBA will strip him if he doesn't fight before July 2nd. That's crazy - not sure I buy that.
Re: It's 10.15am - David Haye - turn on Radio 5 now!
They could arrange it but seems fairly pointless with their history of negotiations/dropouts. Would Sky book the slot knowing both have to win their next fight? I don't know. Why not wait until afterwards?
I'm not going to try to second guess what the alphabet belts will do anymore but I believe Haye has a rematch clause with Valuev, as well as Chagaev who is in line for a mandatory shot.

Without taking a payoff?
What about the Chagaev situation? Will Haye be expected to face him?

Blame, blame, blame. They are simply both as bad as each other. It's gotten to the point where this whole situation is boring.

You're right - but on the radio, when you've got an intelligent outsider asking questions, it just made me realise how embarrassing the whole thing is too.Dioufy wrote:Blame, blame, blame. They are simply both as bad as each other. It's gotten to the point where this whole situation is boring.

Is she the blonde bird that does Only Connect on BBC? If so, then she's the only toff I'd like to fornicate and slap at the same time.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:You're right - but on the radio, when you've got an intelligent outsider asking questions, it just made me realise how embarrassing the whole thing is too.Dioufy wrote:Blame, blame, blame. Re: It's 10.15am - David Haye - turn on Radio 5 now!
Nope, that's Victoria Coren.
Re: It's 10.15am - David Haye - turn on Radio 5 now!
Only Wlad would have to win his next fight because Haye wouldn't have one. However, Haye's said that if Wlad faces Chisora the July 2nd date is off. Why? I just can't see the WBA stripping him if he doesn't fight before then but then he'll know.Scottrf wrote:They could arrange it but seems fairly pointless with their history of negotiations/dropouts. Anyway, as Dioufy says, it's boring, eh? Frustrating too.
Re: It's 10.15am - David Haye - turn on Radio 5 now!
I used to loathe her when watching that programme but have completely changed my opinion of her - she seems really decent in all respects.Dioufy wrote:Nope, that's Victoria Coren.
Re: It's 10.15am - David Haye - turn on Radio 5 now!
Don't try and second guess the WBA. Although I think they are more likely to make him Platinum Mega Champion in Recess than strip him. But yes, very boring.
Re: It's 10.15am - David Haye - turn on Radio 5 now!
Well I cannot understand why Haye cannot fight Chagaev in March/April.... He hardly raised a sweat last time out.
If Wlad is free from his TV/Managerial contract after Chisora - then it stands to make them more money.

Re: It's 10.15am - David Haye - turn on Radio 5 now!
It would be better for boxing if they were BOTH stripped of their titles and then fought, for the Ring Championship only.
Apart from that all titles in boxing, apart from the Lonsdale belt, are a waste of time, I for one have nil regard for any of them.

This may be naivety but for me it just seems like as the time has drawn nearer Wladimir has realised that actually Haye does want the fight and he has gotten twitchy - I know I leave myself open for ridicule here.
But I think there is real 'bitch' in Wladimir and I think he reckons he is getting knocked out by Haye.
For me Haye is too fast and bombs Wlad out early doors
let the slagging off begin lol

Spot on, Preacher Jr.King Geedorah wrote:The Ring title is equally devauled. Belts aren't a problem. I just don't buy the line that the integrity of a boxing governing body is derailing this.

I'm trademarking Platinum Mega Champion in Recess though.King Geedorah wrote:The Ring title is equally devauled. Belts aren't a problem. Maybe the klits issued the "haye can choose" statement to find out who it was he really felt confident of beating and then decided to force him in with the other one to emphasise their power and control over his future. Very cunning and egoistical i know.

The WBA Extends the mandatory period in the event of a unification match. Over to you David!!
Re: It's 10.15am - David Haye - turn on Radio 5 now!
He has gotten some stick. I think the fact that he has outclassed top heavyweights for years helps him in this situation. Wlad probably just wants a tuneup fight. Chisora is the perfect opponent for that. He is also similiar to Haye in some ways--a smaller heavyweight with good speed.sg1985 wrote:The point he's making is he can get an extension, but not if Wlad fights Chisora first. Why Wlad needs to fight Chisora is beyond me, and why isn't he getting stick for fighting a 14 fight British champion novice anyway.boxingchat wrote:The WBA Extends the mandatory period in the event of a unification match. Re: It's 10.15am - David Haye - turn on Radio 5 now!
Just listened to it now. I agree with one of the callers who said that Haye should give that belt up instead of fighting "Shaefer". Haye should just give the belt up and fight on the 2nd of July. That's what makes the most sense.
Re: It's 10.15am - David Haye - turn on Radio 5 now!
Is Wlad ironically not contractually obliged to meet Chisora after pulling out last time?crusader wrote:He has gotten some stick. No because he was a mandatory.
