Boxing News: Editor's Choice

Post by dbflex »

Boxing News has decided to put one article each week from its print issue online on its website. This will go up each Monday and will be the article from the previous Thursday's issue which the Editor (Tris Dixon) deems most appropriate. This Monday the new feature debuts with a Where Are They Now piece on former heavyweight champion James "Bonecrusher" Smith.

While we have called it Editor's Choice, it would still be helpful to us to obtain feedback going forward from any of you guys who read the mag and can tell me if there is an article you particularly liked. If we get enough readers favouring one particular piece that is the obvious choice to put up. Cheers guys.

Your interview with Matthew Hatton was rubbish. Just kidding, will do!

Just out of interest, do you see boxrec as the competition for the BN website?
If so, how do you balance posting here with promoting the BN site? Just nosey, feel free to tell me to mind my own business..

Happy to answer. These days, having grown up (a little) and conversed with Ian, I rarely post article links on here. Ian has graciously allowed me to do so on a limited basis and that's magnanimous of him. Boxrec News is competition in a sense (not the behemoth that is BoxRec itself) but we are very different sites – they are very UK-based, we are more international, they are more grass-roots etc. There's plenty of room for both of us.

Posting about this subject is different – yes it promotes the site but it's more about letting BoxRec posters, many of whom read BN, have a say in what is picked as our article best suited to going online. I think that makes sense.
