Larry Holmes v Randall Cobb and Howard Cosell
Did legendary commentator Howard Cosell really become an ardent critic of the sport after watching Larry Holmes pummel trialhorse Randall "Tex" Cobb for 15 one-sided rounds? What is the truth behind that story?

Well I have always been lead to believe it was that fight that caused Howard to quit the sport.Chopping Right wrote:Did legendary commentator Howard Cosell really become an ardent critic of the sport after watching Larry Holmes pummel trialhorse Randall "Tex" Cobb for 15 one-sided rounds? Cossell quit because a month earlier, Deuk Koo Kim was pronounced dead 4 days later when he fought Mancini. Holmes punished Cobb terribly and Cossell thought Cobb might suffer the same fate so he quit broadcasting boxing.Chopping Right wrote:Did legendary commentator Howard Cosell really become an ardent critic of the sport after watching Larry Holmes pummel trialhorse Randall "Tex" Cobb for 15 one-sided rounds?
