Who's the best promotor in Australia big shows and small?
Big shows you have to say Grange last year for putting even match ups on and the other ones with TV Jamie myer angalo decarlo and looks like Brian Amatruta that card his got in Melbourne looks alright and when it comes to small hall shows would have to be Barry Raff he starts off everyones career in Sydney there's not many fighters that haven't fought on a card his had something to do with
Re: Who's the best promotor in Australia big shows and small?
Melbourne based Charlie Liparota deserves a mention, good shout with Brian Armatruda, a true boxing fan.

Bernie Hall sometimes loaned Charkey Ramon to tent promoters. Usually the boxers fought each other or took it easy on any locals who came forward.
Not Charkey. With his choirboy looks there was always one idiot who would challenge him, with disastrous results for the challenger. One fool took nearly five minutes to regain consciousness.

The best promoter is the one you can get the best deal from for the fighter, eventually you'll have to deal with more than one because the fighter will want to fight more than one promoter can promote.

When I say best promotor I'm talking about from a spectator point of view I can talk from a fighters point of view aswell and alot of promotors if your not in with them there no good to you as a fighterdavidk59 wrote:The best promoter is the one you can get the best deal from for the fighter, eventually you'll have to deal with more than one because the fighter will want to fight more than one promoter can promote.

Best promoter in Australia is Green Machine hands down, he's brought fighters to this country that all promoters could only dream of. GMP undercards are exceptional.
Best up and coming promoter is the Grange Old school, i'm a massive fan of there 2 most recent PPV's and welcome many more, there matchups are well thought out and tough, with both parties(fighter and promoter) benefiting.
On the club level scene Angelo Di Carlo puts up some really good shows, the fighters he's got coming thru his shows are as tough as nails and crowd pleasing. I especially love the way he encourages boxers to put on a good performance and you'll earn a bonus(cash), which is seen awarded in the ring.
Barry Michael/Brian Armatruda are certainly making waves and at times are putting on better than Club level events, but theres never any coverage.

Charlie is a great bloke and good promoter i have dealt with him several times and he is always honest and upfront. Puts on a good show too. I got a rough idea who u fightin on his card mark he is a very handsome man. Another good promoter is murray thompson a great bloke and has always looked been there for me and is probably training the best fighter we have at the moment

Are you serious? have a look at the fighters and undercard fighters that he's brought here, as yet I haven't seen any other promoter do that.
Mark i call it as i see it(or know it), i don't hate people who are successful, I only wish to encourage people to follow a similar blue print of success.
they are by far the biggest promoter in Australia.

Re: Who's the best promotor in Australia big shows and small?
The Grange is probley ( well from last year ) but liveing in QLD I do think Angelo Decarlo allways looks after his fighters and puts on a card for the croud.
Re: Who's the best promotor in Australia big shows and small?
I agree usually gives all the fighters a free feed after the weighin and sometimes gives a bonus for a great fight. Angelo really loves his boxing and will travel to watch a good fight.
Re: Who's the best promotor in Australia big shows and small?
As far as a promotion goes you cant past Green Machine.
Watch out for CDL, they have put on a couple of great shows over here in the west recently with another coming up in March.

Re: Who's the best promotor in Australia big shows and small?
So Briggs,Siacca,Roy jones Jnr, Bj Flores, and Stipe Drews have been bought to this country within the last 3 years and he's not the best. Please show me another promoter who has achieved similar credentials.Mark pawsey wrote:Hounddawg wrote:I don't dislike anyone that's sucessful I'm not a hater OK his undercards are not bad but what about the main events roy jones came for a holiday Paul Briggs was a good fighter a few years back than when he went down as was expected he called him a low dog what about manny siaca how many times has he fought in the last few years? He's launched Wild Will's career and Steven Wills,Willie Kicket, now he's resurrecting the dead career of Shane Cameron and he's the bad man..... WTF.
Fighters that have been imported to fight young talent on his card speaks volumes for his efforts in wanting to entertain and give value for money. And it's not some Thai cabbie or Indonesian bought to lose.
He called Briggs a dog what does that have to do with Promoting, the way everything went down, if my mate done that to me it would of been a lot worse than the harsh word's of being called a dog. Shot RJJ hey, why was Green the underdog then, admittedly RJJ wasn't the same guy of the 90's and early century, but he would of whipped everyone else in this country. Who makes the most money?????? Who gets a headline on all free to air and cable networks as soon as he has a sniffle???? Your not keeping it real, it's obviously quite the opposite. The numbers don't lie Mark, and i like most here can't wait to see what Green does next.
I gave a breakdown of where i think the best promoters are from a spectator point of view 1,Green machine, 2,Grange 3, Di Carlo 4, Myer/Barry michael/Armatruda.
Wheres yours? You like Grange as i do, but whats your thoughts, how would you rank it?
Re: Who's the best promotor in Australia big shows and small?
How can Green be criticised especially for the RJJ, Drews and Flores bouts.
His undercards are second to none and are usually very exciting bouts.
His events are very professional.
RJJ was a heavy favourite with the bookies and most boxing "experts" world wide.
Drews was the reigning WBA Light heavy Wt Champ...yep, WBA, a legit belt !!!
And Flores was undefeated, ranked by most of the major bodies and none of the other top guys wanted to know about him....
Besides dragging one of the champs out of Europe and pay two sanctioning fees, paying Bhop something absolutely ludicrous (and probably still be knocked back) or fighting a Tarver who changes his mind every two seconds, what more could Green do.
Green Machine Promotions are a long way ahead of any other promotional group in this country when it comes to putting on boxing events.

Re: Who's the best promotor in Australia big shows and small?
The fact that green gets all the media attention shows how little the Austrailian public know about boxing. The amercian public was awake to it that's why Roy Jones apparenly only got paid half a million to fight Jeff Lacey thats not that much for someone like jones. Green has a big following in Australia that's how Jones was lured here to fight him .Green was the biggest pay day out there for Roy well I'm not fooled by the mutton dressed as lamb and Im not going to pay to see Green fight until he fights someone like Hopkins Jean Pascol or what about Chad Dawson? I'm sure Green can generate enough money to bring any of them here. I think what they are doing makes good business sense and what they doing is prolonging greens career with smart match making I guess there is nothing wrong with that it's keeping the sport a live in Australia the Briggs fight back fired on them but. Or maybe his a good bloke and he was just giving Briggs a pay day well a true worrior like Briggs deserved a pay day briggs was like another true worrior that Austrailia has had who deserves more media attention katsidas and what about Robbie Pedan Mundine and Green were getting all the media attention when he was over in America fighting the worlds best and hardly getting any media attention anyway back to the original topic Is green machine the best promotors in Australia like I said before the undercards are good but not the main events the only real credible opponent his been in against is bj Flores from a spectators point of view it looked like a sparring seesion and the rest of his fights have been pretty average to watch. Also they don't put fights on often enough to make them the best promotors in Australia so green machine 3 shows in 2010 one being the Briggs fight and Grange six shows in 2010 Grange wins and that's keeping it real

They're all Lt heavyweights, he'd have to shed 10 kilo's to make Lt heavy now, so i don't think you'll be seeing Greeny any time soon.
Green is known over seas, and the fight was aired there as well.
Mate good luck and all the best with your promoting and all the best for 2011 in the fight game.
