That sounds about right. He won't fight Vitali, that's for sure.

The only way Haye retires by then is if he fights a Klitschko and loses. Otherwise there's way too much money on the table for him to walk away. And, let's face it, he hasn't exactly taken much punishment in the past two years, has he? Surely the point of saying "I'm retiring at 30" is to ensure you don't take one beating too many?

David Haye will make do with a mandatory defence of his WBA heavyweight title against Ruslan Chagaev in the next few months as Wladimir Klitschko defends his IBF and WBO titles against Londoner Derek Chisora in Germany on April 30.
Haye, a Londoner himself, was hoping for a quick unification showdown with Klitschko but the giant Ukrainian wants a tune up firstly, having picked up a back injury before Christmas. Klitschko will feast on someone like Chisora, who is unbeaten and holds the British heavyweight title but at just 14-0 (9), a pro barely three years, who is also way out of his depth.
Klitschko, 55-3 (49), does his usual thing as he picks off Chisora on the way to a stoppage win in the middle rounds.

I hope he does! I'm tired of his jibber jabber followed by no action and all these hissy fits about Kilt, pfft get a grip Mr Haye! Give the air time to someone that actually fights who they claim they to want fight!

But alas he probably won't...more Haye pollution coming our way!

I really hope he doesn't retire without facing one of the K Bros....Wlad preferably but if push comes to shove Vit
I'll be bitterly disappointed from a fan's perspective but it would be a terribly unsatisfactory outcome for the HW division. The prospect of either of them fighting has been the most exciting thing in the Heavy's for a while let alone an actual fight taking place....

We all heard the same stuff from Oscar De la Hoya stating that he wanted to get out of Boxing when he was 30 years old..... He ended up fighting until he 36 years old and then got completely dismantled by Manny Pacquiao, and I watched on Youtube it was that one sided I could not give even a share of a round to the Golden Boy in that burying of him. We have all heard too many fighters saying that they will get out by a certain age and up fighting way way way past their peak and end up getinng brutally dispatched into retirement with their legacy shattered by a rising star in this sport. So I do actually doubt that David Haye will bow out of boxing like he has said at the age of 31, but I do want him to man up and get with either one I do not mind which of the Brothers K.

I suspect what will happen is that Haye will retire at the end of this year or in 2012, but will then discover his ambitions to be a media star (films, TV etc), prove harder to fulfill than he suspected - the subsequent impact on his income and his standing would mean a return to the ring could be an irresistible lure.
It's a complete 'wild card' call, but I also wouldn't be that surprised if he considered a fight in the UFC - he's on the record as having a genuine interest in MMA and you can certainly see how Dana White and co could view it as a unique marketing opportunity. I suspect the sticking point would be cash though, considering how Haye can command a far higher purse in the square ring.
Having said all of that, Calzaghe's coped far better with the temptation of a comeback than I expected and Haye and his team are pretty sharp guys, so maybe he will just walk away, regardless of how successful his pursuit of other avenues is.

thats 100% true - im a big fan but unless he takes out 3 of the following -

Chagaev
Povetkin
Adamek
Wlad
Vitali
Valuev if haye ko's him within 7 rounds.

Then he will be forgotten by most, in 10 years.

IF he beats 2 of them and then fights a klit win or loose he would secure his legacy in the UK and probably the US. He needs to fight in vegas imo as well.

yeah but calzaghe didnt make a comeback because all the fighters are tied up in the super 6. If froch had beat kessler and AA, calzaghe would have probably wanted to fight him.

As it is he JC beat kessler and kessler beat froch so JC doesnt have anything to prove.

I politely disagree. Calzaghe's genuinely got the air of a man who has no interest in returning to the ring. I've seen nothing in his actions or words to suggest otherwise.

Apart from trying to arrange a rematch with B-Hop and sell it to HBO? :D

If Haye retires it would likely just be a PBF style 'retirement'. The money for Wlad fight would only be bigger after a comeback.

Let's say Wlad beats Chisora in April and Haye beats Chagaev in June. Would they then organise to fight before Haye's birthday in October? Is it possible? Is it likely?

It's all a mess. I was thinking they were just mucking us (fans) about, but they're mucking themselves about, by the sounds of it.

I literally couldn't care less. Never been much of a fan of Haye and certainly never thought he was anywhere near as good as he thinks he is. In other eras you'd have never heard of him if you weren't from England and a boxing fan. I think both Klitschko's flatten him. If he does carry on at it though then I will lose more respect for him.

The truth of the matter is, both Haye and Booth are chancers....i mean take Booth can u see him having a long career as a trainer after Haye is "retired" in October and groves eventually realises he is better off elsewhere?

Hayes sole job right now is to hype and hype and build up anticipation for a retirement fight with wladimir which he knows he will lose.......people totally forget Hayes career was in the wilderness a few years ago.....and that he looked very vulnerable against mormeck a ... if you like.. a 90's style small HW who had floored him and had him hurt bad.... macinerilli was a carefully matched top 10 cruiser and not a world beater, audley is a joke, ruiz a shot old man trying to learn new tricks, and barrett a competent exciting gatekeeper. so your left with valuev who a 46 year old shot beyond beleif holyfield actually beat and showed haye how to do it................ Haye you see doesnt really want to fight anymore he just wants money so he can retire. He is mates with rio ferdinand another celebrity first sportsmen second merchant..... fair play to haye he has been competing in the hardest of sports since he was a small boy....but his confidence tricks in regards to a klitchko fight this last year have turned off many of his former fans.

booth wont need to be a trainer when haye retires, he is already a millionaire and haye and himself have hayemaker promotions. i think george groves may well be adam booths last charge as a trainer.
