Alexander- Bradley on sky

Post by UpperCrust »

EDIT: Just seen a thread I didn't see earlier already confirming this.

Firstly, apologies if this had already been confirmed but..

A few of us have recently been scouting the skysports boxing schedule to find out if Alexander-Bradley was going to be on sky or not (note that a recent huge world fight Katsidis-Marques was not)

Adam Smith on ringside today confirmed that sky would be showing it this month. I thought this was a no brainer for them to be honest due to the Khan interest.

I'm sure we all agree that this will be an EXCELLENT and fascinating bout.

If the number of tickets sold is true (less than 400), I have a feeling this may get cancelled.

That's the problem with holding it in a neutral venue that as far as I know isn't really a boxing town (correct me if I'm wrong). Would be a massive shame if you are right there, two of the most respectable champions in boxing and a rare unification fight.

EDIT: With TV money providing the majority of money these days, will live gate be so important as to be a reason for cancellation?

Absolutely baffled me to be honest. As fair as I know Bradley is from California and Alexander is from St Louis (where he apparently has a decent following) yet they're fighting in Detroit.

An American on another forum highlighted how Detroit is one of the worst hit economic areas in the whole country with a high proportion of people on welfare etc. This surely isn't helping ticket sales, so why wasn't it considered in the first place?

It sounds ridiculous. Maybe they should sell the tickets really dirt cheap.

I hope the fight happens. It's a big one for the division, and Sky having it is obviously a very good thing, what with Khan targeting the winner.
