MCDONNELL READY TO TACKLE THE WORLD-SENT FROM THE OFFICE OF FRANK MALONEY
JAMIE MCDONNELL will be fighting for version of the world bantamweight title by the end of the year.
That is the plan according to the Doncaster star’s promoter Frank Maloney and manager Dennis Hobson.
McDonnell (15-2-1) makes the second defence of his European bantamweight title Stephane Jamoye (19-1) at Doncaster Dome on Saturday January 22.
Maloney said: “Jamie’s progress has been startling over the last 12 months and his European title triumph against Jerome Arnould didn’t get the recognition it deserved.
“Jamoye is another step up in class and after another couple of defence he’ll be ready for the division’s best.”
Jamoye appears to be McDonnell’s toughest test so far with the Belgian’s only defeat coming against unbeaten Japanese star Tomoki Kameda back in August.
McDonnell, 24, added: “These are the kids I want to be fighting. I don't want Muppets chucked in front of me because I'm not going to get anything from winning such fights.
I need to be turning over these decent kids to try and get my ranking up and prove that I'm world class and deserving of a world title fight - hopefully this year.”
Provided Johanneson comes through he will face Anthony Crolla in a final eliminator for his old crown now held by Gary Sykes.
Ian Napa (19-9) suffered back-to-back British title losses against McDonnell and Stuey Hall in 2010 and must beat Mancunian southpaw Terry Flannigan (8-0) or face retirement.
Sheffield middleweight Liam Cameron (7-0) is one of British boxing’s most talked about talents and face Leicester’s durable Lester Walsh over six rounds.
Also on the bill is Sunderland’s big hitting Glenn Foot who bids to make it a hat-trick of first round wins when he face Birmingham’s Dee Mitchell (9-11) who has been stopped once in 20 fights.
Tickets for this bumper night of boxing, priced £60 and £30 are available from www.frankmaloney.com and 0871 226 1508

Kash has had to pull out against Johanneson due to flu. Spoke to Carl and Martin Williams the other day and they are hoping for a new foe.

Do you think there's a little bit of a similarity with the Ricky/Matthew Hatton thing? (I mean with Matthew getting back into boxing after seeing how well his brother was doing).dhb-raging bull wrote:yer gavs fighting on on the show to... hes a top kid and he is a very hard worker in the gym and very dedicated to the game he looks like hes going to go on and do some big stuff hopefullyGooner123 wrote:I believe Jamies twin Gavin will be boxing on the undercard, watch out for him looks a good prospect!
It wouldn't be too bad if that's the case; Matthew is a very capable boxer in his own right now.

Thats the truth Jeff. He has a very interesting style, hands loose and almost snake charming infront of your face and then quick bursts of power attack. There is almost something 1950's about it. Know how to find the body with the left as well.Jeff Thomas wrote:Keep a look out for tommy coyle too good lad
I have a video of him stopping Daniel Thorpe on my channel but I'm limited by the powers-that-be to to posts two links a week so cant wack it on here.
Have you sparred him Jeffro?
Re: Jan 22th at Doncaster
Jeez, ordered tickets off the FM website last week, not turned up...not replied to 2 emails, neither phone number picking up. Great!
Re: Jan 22th at Doncaster
Ok, anyone else having the same problem as me - Apparently the tickets ordered direct from FM are at the venue. You need to pick them up on the night.

Re: Jan 22th at Doncaster
Just wanted to say my sincere apology to all tommy coyle fans. I've had to pull out of our fight tomorrow. Pulled a muscle in my shoulder. This is my only pull out in 3 years and 60 plus bouts. It's genuine & I'm sorry to anyone looking foward to tommy s fight
