USA Boxing has names Joe Zanders as its National Coach.
This does not come as a surprise to many as the rumors heard through the grapevine for many months were that he was going to be the National Coach. He allegedly walked away from the head coaching job of the WSB's LA Matadors due to possible conflicts with doing both jobs. He really wanted the job of being the National Coach more than being a WSB team coach.
Joe Zanders is a good coach and I have witnessed his teaching style first hand at the Train the Trainers Clinic in early 2009. I have also witnessed Joe coach at several national tournaments.
I wish him well and hope that he can inspire our boxers to greatness. I really would like to see Team USA win a handful of medals in London next year.

Re: USA National Coach Named
Best wishes to Coach Joe and USA Boxing! This is a good choice...the personal coach built the kid, developed the kid, and the kid respects their home coach. Joe Zanders respects and appreciates all personal coaches and truly believes they are part of the team, and an important part of helping the athlete achieve their maximum potential. Now its up to everyone to work hard and its up to the grassroots coaches to develop Olympic Champions for USA Boxing

Re: USA National Coach Named
This was the one that I was hoping for. I hope that this is the start of the US Amateur programs having a great showing in London. Joe has a great relationship and at least knows most of the top boxers and coaches we have, he is very accessible and very capable of bringing our team together. Personal coaches are invaluable in the success of our boxers and Joe has said that he's committed to having them as part of the process. I'm glad he took the job! He has my support.
