This will be all about numbers, trust me, that's what the TV companies and promoters can never ignore. If we can get a shitload of people signed up to the Facebook page then the tournament has to happen, end of. Add your friends and get them to add their friends (and their friends) to join up. Spread the word, this will be what swings it for us.

In all seriousness Dan. A clash between us with a chance to win a few quid could be a cracker. We,d do well to score a stoppage. But with my youth(erm) I could be too quick. Ha. I genuinely think we all have a chance. But do think I could pull it off. With a home crowd ,I'd be hard to beat for the rest of you

Re: JOURNEYMAN PRIZEFIGHTER!!
Just had a rough count of the past & present World / European / British / Commonwealth champions that the aforementioned names ( prizefighter the journeymen ) have boxed over the last few years & it's quite a list!! Some massive names on their records including - Amir Khan / Duke McKenzie / Gavin Rees / John Murray / Kevin Mitchell / Carl Johanneson / Ricky Burns / Michael Gomez / Paul McCloskey / Nicky Cook / Scott Harrison / Stephen Foster Jnr / John Thaxton / Esham Pickering / Michael Hunter / John Simpson / Dazzo Williams / Gary Sykes / Jamie Arthur / Liam Walsh / Andy Morris / Bradley Pryce / Martin Power / Barry Morrison / Derry Matthews / Paul Truscott / Shinny Bayaar !!!!! I've not even thought about the amount of fighters that have lost in challenges for honours that have boxed our Journeymen!! There are probably another 30 - 40 names that we all know & have enjoyed watching over the years!! All the above Champions have cut their teeth & learned their trade boxing these journeymen, they are so so important to the sport of boxing!! Imagine the archive footage that sky must have of our boys!! They could really put together a great promo advert for this thing if it ever gets of the ground! Also the story's that all our journeymen could tell, I'm sure they could captivate the viewing public with their all round histories / backgrounds!! Any stories you boys have post here , as the saying goes 'every little helps'!! Let's keep this thread at the top of the list & try to generate a bit more of a buzz for this thing, as Glyn said earlier, they can't ignore us forever!! Can they??

Re: JOURNEYMAN PRIZEFIGHTER!!
Good point frank. The fact is that most journeymen have done a lot more in their careers than a hell of a lot more than most other entrants into prizefighters of the past. I mean , respect to billy slate, nothing personal here. But is anyone telling me that watching him against say dodson ain't a tad onesided. All journeyman matchups are pretty even. That's gotta make for better tv. Have these massive outsiders done more to deserve their shot than us. Bollocks have they. Sky have to give us a shot. By all accounts everyone bar sky are keen. So come on Adam smith, we are well deserving of this. Listen to the public on this

Names on the Facebook page John, that's what will swing it. Get a couple of thousand on there, no way can Sky and Matchroom ignore it. But they will otherwise. They aren't going to give you anything unless you can prove that people want to see it, trust me. Some at Matchroom and Sky are up for it, some of them aren't. Only numbers will change their minds, that's what gets the pound signs rolling in their eyes. But don't think they'll give you it out of some sort of sense of duty or honour mate because they won't, not in a million years. We have to prove to them that a lot of people are behind the idea.

Re: JOURNEYMAN PRIZEFIGHTER!!
for all you fans, lets get as many letters into boxing news about this that we can.... lets fill the pages to give these lads a shot in the spotlight. Link the facebook page into every website remotely boxing related that we can and push for it.
Time to show Sky & the promoters when the fans want something that we can make it happen. Massive respect to Daniel, Johnny and Glyn who seem to be doing everything they can to set the wheels in motion, you guys move in the right circles but us fans have got to push the idea with them as much as we can.

Re: JOURNEYMAN PRIZEFIGHTER!!
Dan, a couple of people have said to me they think it would be a good idea to have bit of blurb at the top of the Facebook page, to let people know exactly why they should be signing up. makes sense to me, dunno what you think. I'll be trying to sort out a link to the FB page from the Boxing Monthly site on Monday and I'll be using the introduction below on that, feel free to use it at the top of the FB page if you want to (and no offence if you don't, obviously).
Let's pull out all the stops here mate, we can have this. Johnny will sell the arse out of it on Buncey's radio show this week, we're starting to build up a bit of steam here. If it took 8000 complaints for the BBC to change that Eastenders cot death storyline, I reckon 2000 members of the Facebook group should be more than enough to convince Matchroom and Sky to put this on. They will never, ever have had anything like that amount of people demanding a boxing show. They'd be fools to say no.

Power to the underdog!
A Journeyman. He's the fighter that keeps boxing alive. He steps in at the last moment to save a promoter's show, he's the man who the stars of tomorrow learn most from, and he knows better than to expect a fair crack of the whip when the scorecards are read out. A journeyman is boxing's ultimate professional. So let's give him a moment in the limelight. Prizefighter - The Journeymen would give these unsung heroes a chance they never get: to star on live TV in evenly matched fights, with the opportunity of winning £32,000. And these men deserve that chance.
Join this Facebook group, add your friends, and get them to add their friends. Spread the word, tell the powers that be that this is a competition you would love to see by joining Prizefighter - The Journeymen. Boxing would be nothing without these fighters and this is your chance to reward them. It's in your hands.

Has The world gone mad? I wouldn't want to watch 8 journeyman battling it out to c who won! Who gives a monkeys ? Not me . I'd rather watch paint dry. And boxing doesn't owe guys anything u owe urselfs.
It's a brutal business u guys knew wat u were getting into if u don't like it retire .
U can polish a turd but it's still a turd
Prizefighter the journey man= the winner gets glory beating other journeyman then two weeks later fights a prospect At a days notice and gets bombed out in threerounds, na doesn't intrest me

The journeymen boxers are invaluable to boxing, boxing promotion and the development of the future stars. Some of them aren't that good at boxing, don't have much of a punch or have a lot of wear and tear; some f them are much better than their records suggest. Just because a fighter has losses on their record doesn't mean they won't try their very best when they've got a level playing field.
Rather than 'You can polish a turd, but it's still a turd' I'd prefer, 'Cometh the hour, cometh the man'.
I feel that a journeyman Prizefighter would throw up some really well matched bouts.

My God, we're up to nearly 900 on Dan's Facebook group page John - we only had 60 four days ago. The support for you boys is phenomenal mate. I reckon that by the time you go on Buncey's show on Thursday we might already have hit the magic 2000 figure - and we still won't have finished. I'm getting quite emotional about this son! I'm really proud of everyone concerned.

Re: JOURNEYMAN PRIZEFIGHTER!!
We've all seen these lads at work. I for one always take the time to watch the undercards & more often than not am struck by how good some of the 'journeymen' are! I'm training a journeyman at the moment, my brother johnny!! I'm sure you can appreciate that it can be difficult, being brothers and all, he doesn't always wanna do as he's told! lol. Honestly tho, the work these boys put in is amazing, week after week after week, the constant grind of the gym, always watching their weight, the 1000's & I do mean 1000's of miles covered up & down the country, AMAZING!! All this for relatively little recognition & even less £££'s. So why do they do it? honestly I'll be buggered if I know the answer to that one! I do think tho that it's time to give a little back, give them a night they'll never forget, cheer & shout for them rather than at them! & potentially change one of their carears around! wouldn't it be great to see? & if it does happen we can all smile to ourselves & think "I helped make this happen in my own small way, well done me"!!! so get adding those names & those that have already thank you very much but we still need more!!
