Lucian Bot Vs Tom Dallas

Post by Jeff Thomas »

According to an article in my local paper this fight is likely to happen, any thoughts?

BLACKPOOL has a new addition to its heavyweight boxing ranks – from far-flung Eastern Europe.

Unbeaten Lucian Bot, who hails from Romania, has signed a three-year contract with manager/trainer Sam Betts and will train out of the Sharp Style gym in Bagot Street, South Shore.

The 31-year-old stands six foot, three inches and has won 14 out of 15 contests, mostly in his native land, while drawing the other.

He won full international honours for Romania as an amateur. A number of his fights are on YouTube and five of his wins have been by knockout.

His first fight under Betts’ management is likely to be against unbeaten 6ft 6in prospect Tom Dallas.

Ambitious Betts even has his sights raised to a challenge for the European title. He enthused: “Lucian is the fastest heavyweight I have seen. He is great sparring for another of my fighters Rik Turba, who has been struggling to get sparring partners.

“Lucian hopes to compete in this year’s Prizefighter heavyweight series.”

Meantime, Turba is hoping to get an invite to take part in the Prizefighter cruiserweight version. Betts said: “Turba stopped last year’s champion Jon-Lewis Dickinson in three rounds. No-one in the cruiserweight division will fight him as a result.

“He will fight anyone, anywhere, but his next fight may be in Prizefighter.”

Part of the Bot/Turba backroom team are Andy Abrol and Mark Davies, who are booked to attend the next British Boxing Board Of Control trainer seconds course.

“They want to become affiliated trainers and we want to make Sharp Style a pro-boxing gym the town can be proud of,” Betts said.

Big Sam is a true gent and I wish him every success. Lucian should give Tom a tough test.

Thought you meant Bute there for a moment!

Yes fast but looks like he leaves his chin a bit exposed coming in.

On a side note look at 2:23 to 2:26 on that video. Best jab ever ?

I disagree with the majority of what you're saying,I agree on the power part as he doesnt look particularily heavy handed but not the opposition and that dallas would stop him easily.Dallas is a good prospect but he's fought mainly stiffs like this guy has and as for the stopping him easily i dont see it,dallas is still a work in progress and defensively isnt the best, even know bot lacks power by the look of things he looks solid technically and he's got pretty fast hands for a heavyweight.

Swaby is no heavyweight but is a respectable fighter and Peret is as tough as they come and often in high demand with promoters.

True but that doesnt make them good fighters does it,just tough durable guys who will face who's put in front of them. All im saying is this bot guy shouldnt be underestimated,he boxed for romania as an international so he's clearly got ability and i think the vid shows that.He lacks power clearly but boxing isnt all about power as we know.
