if SKY want big PPV numbers for khans next fight
if SKY want big PPV numbers for khans next fight
it has to be a rematch vs prescott
mcCloskey , petterson , ortiz basically mean nothing to the wider sporting public but a chance of redemption vs the guy who beat you badly would sell
sky would do it , hbo would do , prescott wants it and wouldnt cost much
is khan avoiding prescott??? i say yes as he should have fought him by now after his defeat although recently both have went in a different direction career wise.
Surely HBO will say no to mcCloskey as they have said NO to some of sergio martinez suggested opponents
khan vs prescott makes perfect sense and £££££ but i really dont think khan wants the fight. In all honesty he beat maidana who is better than prescott , so wheres the problem???
maybe khan knows that prescott has his number - a bogeyman , a jinx
thoughts???

Prescott has been exposed, is fighting in a weight class lower and has lost against Mitchell. The McCloskey fight is an easy sell, Ireland v England, European v World champions.
Re: if SKY want big PPV numbers for khans next fight
it would be lucky to do 100k ppv buys
the prescott match would do about 300k

Garbage, the guy could fight anyone and get 300k minimum.boxerbob wrote:it would be lucky to do 100k ppv buys

Re: if SKY want big PPV numbers for khans next fight
so what prescott has lost twice since khan, joe public dont know that, the fight would be sold as the man who knocked out khan, it makes alot of sense, it would make alot of money and make khans record perfect again, mcclosky isnt ready for khan yet, that can wait. bring it on prescott....iamasadlittleboy wrote:Prescott has been exposed, is fighting in a weight class lower and has lost against Mitchell. Joe public will buy it for 2 reason, it being Khan, and because Sky and Khan will role out a media juggernaut. Unless its mayweather the opponent won't make any difference.

Re: if SKY want big PPV numbers for khans next fight
Prescott certainly makes more TV sense than Peterson et al, because Prescott holds that devastating KO win over Amir. Its really that simple.
Yes we know that Peterson, McCloskey are better fighters than Prescott, but to the casual fans their names mean little, but Prescott is the man who blasted Khan in less than a round so they know who he is.
SKY could show the re runs, slow mo it for greater effect, have Prescott blabbering about destroying Khan again with blood running across the screen, all kinds of glossy sh*t. Its such an easy sell.
But forgetting the TV angle, just on a personal level surely Khan would love the chance to get revenge on Prescott, silence the mouthy columbian once and for all.

It would definitely sell IMO, would be fun to see him avenge the defeat.
Jesus can you imagine if they took Prescott as a warm up for the Bradley/Alexander winner and he derailed the train again?

Has he done anywhere near those numbers before? I thought he's bombed big time on PPV so fariamasadlittleboy wrote:Garbage, the guy could fight anyone and get 300k minimum.boxerbob wrote:it would be lucky to do 100k ppv buys

khans ppv ratings have been very poor in this country - fact
some of them have been below 50k
some of them have been below 50k

Re: if SKY want big PPV numbers for khans next fight
Gotta say ridiculous and wrong as I know it is, I'd pay for a rematch with Prescott! All logic dictates a Khan win, but Prescott would be full of confidence and I'd be on the edge of my seat! An easy sell.
Re: if SKY want big PPV numbers for khans next fight
And where from do you get this Factual information? I've scoured papers and the net and have found no confirmation of any PPV numbers in the country. Just be interested to know where I should be looking.boxerbob wrote:khans ppv ratings have been very poor in this country - fact

Re: if SKY want big PPV numbers for khans next fight
I think it would be a farce to be honest, If Prescott was still undefeated fair enough but Prescott has been well beaten twice since he beat Khan, Khan is now at a higher weightclass and has beaten much better fighters than Prescott.
I see your point in wanting to erase the blemish on his record but if Khan wants to do that then it should be in a non-title fight in some small hall not on PPV, it would sell like shit on PPV.
I'd have preferred to see him fight someone like Judah or Matthysse than the likes of Peterson or McCloskey.

im very sure i got some of my information from this very site , sure it was a leak by someone in the know but also read on other sitesearsjohn wrote:And where from do you get this Factual information? also allegedly doesnt really publish his ppv - ask why...every other fighter eg: hatton and haye ppv numbers got published
Re: if SKY want big PPV numbers for khans next fight
Its down to confidentiality agreements. Having that information in the public domain would have a significant impact on negotiations with fighters and TV companies. I'd argue that the PPV ratings for Khan are perfectly satisfactory, especially if Sky are happy for Khan v McCloskey rather than Khan v a bigger name. I'd find it very hard to believe that Khan would get less buys than the Magnificant 7 type cards - average joe schmoe on the street knows who Khan is, they dont know who Cleverley, Brook, Macklin, Gavin, Bellew, Hall, etc are.boxerbob wrote:im very sure i got some of my information from this very site , sure it was a leak by someone in the know but also read on other sitesearsjohn wrote:And where from do you get this Factual information? Where are the Haye ppv numbers? I've only seen rumours and guesses on forums, not official numbers from reliable sources.
Re: if SKY want big PPV numbers for khans next fight
I'm sure Khan's PPV hits will improve following his last performance. Fight fans were crying out for a true acid test and Maidana provided it. The win and the even more so the nature of the win will boost Khan's appeal.
At this stage Amir shouldn't be wasting his time boxing the likes of Prescott. He's moved on from the cosy little SN world. Onwards and upwards....

Co-sign. Also, if he were to fight Matthysse, then he could start a "Beating up rock-hard Argies who look like they did their tats themselves" club.
Re: if SKY want big PPV numbers for khans next fight
mate i totally agree with your 1st paragraph , his ppv numbers will go up because of the maidana fight but i still think a re-match vs prescott would make very good number - much more than mcCloskeyTHEBUTCH wrote:I'm sure Khan's PPV hits will improve following his last performance. Re: if SKY want big PPV numbers for khans next fight
If I was Prescott's agent/manager. I wouldn't want this fight. I would try and get Bredis alligned with Freddy Roach and teach the guy how to box a bit.
I do feel the guy has backs of talent. Great jaw and great power - thats two things in his favour.

Yeah I see what you're saying about Breidis but he reminds me too much of someone like Ben Tackie, rock-chinned & rock-fisted but very little actual *talent* if you like.stujones wrote:If I was Prescott's agent/manager. What Prescott has got in his favour of Tackie (IMO) is handspeed and I think his power is more chilling than Tackie. However, can see the analogy.
I think he has more natural talent than Mayorga, and he did alright for himself really.

I think the thing with Mayorga was always that he was a dickhead. He was like the pro wrestling heel or something, always willing to create controversy. I can't imagine Breidis having the same personality, which is why Mayorga got so many title shots/so much money.

I've said this before:
Prescott will be a comeback fight if and when Khan looses. Now that makes sense

Re: if SKY want big PPV numbers for khans next fight
good point, makes sense though, if he lost that aswell it really could be over, 2 loses to prescott and 2 in a row aswell. end of, unless audley harrison gives him some advice.JDC wrote:I've said this before:
