Do you think it would help if people emailed Adam Smith at SKY with a polite request? From all accounts he is a boxing fan who knows the game inside out and from the changes he's made (to Ringside) and the complimentary things he has said about Carl Froch (not a fighter shown on SKY)
he may well be the one that can make a decision that changes peoples preconceptions about Journeymen boxers and provides a really good, entertaining show.

I imagine Glyn Leach has a public contact address for Mr Smith, (though I wouldn't be all that surprised if Mr Smith weren't a secret viewer of the forum).

Adam Smith will be very much aware of what's going on Simon, but good idea. He can be emailed via this link to the Sky Sports site

http://www.skysports.com/opinion/story/ ... 89,00.html

It's going mental on the Facebook page, over 1000 members now!

In my eyes each fight will be pure entertainment, watching a protected fighter/upcoming star stop somebody after 1/2 rounds is far less entertaining.

The best fights don't have the best boxers in them.
Has The world gone mad? I wouldn't want to watch 8 journeyman battling it out to c who won! Who gives a monkeys ? Not me . I'd rather watch paint dry. And boxing doesn't owe guys anything u owe urselfs.
It's a brutal business u guys knew wat u were getting into if u don't like it retire .
U can polish a turd but it's still a turd
Prizefighter the journey man= the winner gets glory beating other journeyman then two weeks later fights a prospect At a days notice and gets bombed out in threerounds, na doesn't intrest me
your obviously some kind of expert as you seem to have it all worked out.You know fak awl my san, there'd be more 50/50 fights in that one night of boxing than any other show i've ever been to so dont you bother coming, you get yourself off to the one the fortnight after with all the knockouts :witzend:

Not really the case with the upcoming light-heayweight one.

Howard Clarke went from a world title fight in MSG to doing precisely that. Ditto Julius Francis some time after headlining against Mike Tyson. The fans "put up with it".

Regarding concerns some may go into "survival mode" in order to avoid a stoppage and thus a 30-day suspension: how about staging it in late July? August is always a barren month, usually with no shows. So then even if someone got stopped, the suspension is irrelevant as they wouldn't have boxed anyway.

True, but then it was promoted - I will be careful here, it technically wasn't promoted but it wasn't ever corrected (still not infact) that a former World champion and Olympic Medalist was making a comeback in this.

Same thing with Wayne McCullough in the Super Bantam one which ended up a little flat on names (Esham Pickering aside).

All of us journeymen have said the same thing. We will all go out and box like its our world title. I & thorpy have said we would happily donate to charity if that's not the case. Why survive when every fight is winable. We will have time to prep. And we would be getting judged fairly. All we want is the chance to shine on a level field . All fights are well matched and in my oppinion will throw up some fantastic bouts

Oliver - Howard Clarke, what a brilliant example. I was in New York for his fight with Vargas and you should have seen how happy he was just to be there, in a big fight on a big night. It was cracking to see. If we can do something even slightly similar for these lads, we really will have done something very worthwhile.

On another subject, has everyone noticed that Nate Campbell has signed up on the Facebook page? How cool is that?

What a class bloke Campbell is! Meant a lot, him showing a bit of solidarity. Would be great if some of the name Brits chipped in, but politics comes into it there I think, maybe they don't want to risk upsetting a powerful promoter and TV company. Dunno, can't think why else, those fellas all learned their trade against the likes of the fighters we're supporting, they should give something back to them IMO

Well if they are worried about upsetting anybody let me just say this.....

This isn't a protest, this isn't a barrage of abuse aimed at anybody, it is a campaign in order to support the forgotten men of the sport. Not a bad word has been said about anybody, we are just trying to offer a few honest hard working men there 15 minutes of fame. If anything the support that has been shown thus far will prove that this could be a positive thing for anybody willing to task a risk on some of these men.

Think of the promotion that could go into this, we could make this the best prizefighter spectacle ever if we can get a few of the names on the facebook page to say there little bit on there experiences with journeymen, how they helped them develope and what they learnt of whom. This has taken off quicker than i ever expected with some huge names showing support, a big wel done to the likes of Glyn, Daniel, Johnny and others who are putting there heart and soul into it.

No way mate, you'll be brilliant, don't worry about it - and like you say, Buncey will be there to help you out. I'll be listening John, always do, enjoy Buncey's show - Thursday night is great for a boxing nut, Buncey from 8-9, Ringside from 9-10!

If this does happen I'd really love to be in this, know i'm not exactly a journeyman but i'm coming back from nearly 5 years away from the sport and i've fought the likes of Buckley, Laight, Allen, Thorpey and Carey- i'd really like an opportunity to fight in it if the weight is attainable.

Here's hoping a couple of you would like me in it too - i'd do a blog and stuff and keep everyone in the loop. :TU:
