Suprise of 2011

Post by ourkid1984 »

I thought that this was a good feature on Ringside and have enjoyed similar discussions/comments in magazines, papers and other websites.

Just wondering who the good people on Box rec think will be the suprise of 2011.

Mine would be Richard Towers if he gets enough fights I think he could be British or Commonwealth by the end of year and Matty Askin to be a truely familar name to boxing fans by the end of the year.

Yeah I think he could go quite far but needs to stay at 1 weight class in my opinion.

Tom Doran to make strides towards the British title at light middle, and for Scott Quigg to really burst onto the scene...big time. A real talent.

I think the big surprise of 2011 will be if David Haye retires. I just can't see it, even if he gets a Klit by the summer.

He has at least five years left in the tank IMO, fighting twice/three times a year. I guess we'll see.

I can't see anyone bar him dethroning the Klits before they retire. Who else is out there? The well has run dry.....if you take the three of them out of the equation who's left? Fat Yanks and robotic Europeans......or fat Europeans like Fury and co. Shambles...

Hope not. If the biggest surprise of the year is someone doing something he's been telling us for years that he will, we are in for a predictable year.

Do you think he will retire in October if neither of the Klits fight him before then?

No idea but if that's the biggest surprise we don't have much to look forward to.

They are both very good but I rate Ronnie higher. It's too early to tell though. Both have excellent amateur pedigree.

I get mixed up between them both but I think from what I've seen the younger one looks best.

Hopefully Appelby can surprise a few people back at Featherweight, maybe Limond as well coming back domestically.

That would be a surprise... Don't buy him retiring at all.
